anyone thought of making their car RWD?

y'all have good points, thanks for sharing! and u guys have a point there, going RWD is really damn expensive and in a way.. unneccessary, i was going to sleep last night and i just thought of the idea.

But i wouldnt buy a s2k for anything, what's the point? it's a honda, i'm not saying honda cant perform, s*** they're some sweet ass machines...

but there's no point to sup up a honda, everyone has one. Chances are your next door neighbor has the same car with the same mods. I wanna fix my car so that people "oO u see that?!" "never seen anyone done that before!", i dont want people to go "oO u see that?!" "dude, both my neighbors has the same car with the same rims and exhaust, no big deal."

But hondas are sweet machines no doubt

dood... the MSP wont be an MSP after your done making it a RWD car. there is so much crap you have to do for a conversion like that (frame, body, engine, transmission, exhaust... etc etc etc.... the list is long).

all this = not woth it.

...besides, you would loose so much power down the driveshaft, that the car would do 0-60 in 15sec.

verdict: let the MSP stay FWD unless mazda decides otherwise.

of course, i do think it is a cool idea.

Actually, if you can afford the $28 - $32K, the S2000 is an incredible machine. Again, you're talking about a different class of car altogether.

The nice thing about the MS Protege is that despite the thousands of Proteges on the road, this car is unique. Non-car people have NO CLUE what the hell it is. I get a kick out of it - and I'm an old guy.

I might be repeating someone else cause i didnt read the whole thread, but the first thing I thought about after I got my car was putting a rotary in it, but i did some research and realized that as cool as it would be, it's just not worth it. At least on the P5, it just weighs so much it still wouldnt be blazing fast, and to do the mod, you'd have to mae the cabin almost unlivable. Cutting up the center console and rear seats and all kinds of stuff. As soon as the motor on my car bllows, I'd love to try and do a RWD conv. but until then, its just not worth it. Be happy with the beautiful piece of machinery that you got.

people you just need to accept that its not worth the $$ and effort to make a p5 awd or rwd!!!!
for the price of an awd or rwd conversion on an Aspec p5, you could actually but a sport20 and have it shipped here + upgrade everything.

if you dont accept it, it will just cause you more pain

Not worth the money. Just buy a RWD car. Not only do you need the parts but you would also need to move existing parts around. Lots of customization. The money you would spend on making the MSP RWD would be better off buying either a new car or getting a better turbo and tuning the engine even more.

how many supercharged s2000's do you see everyday.. i see one or 2 s2k's a week, and none are supercharged that i know of around here...
Your logic confounds me, and i was just using it as an example of your money BETTER spent elsewhere than a RWD conversion.
You could go buy a 350z and get the greddy Turbo kit, or buy a supra or something else....

the FWD cars are Transverse mounted (mounted left to right) and RWD are mounted longitudal, (mounted front to back). You can get a new transmission box that can turn the output shaft 90 degrees and then adding a new driveshaft and rear diff with half shafts.

You would have to redo the whole bottom and maybe reroute the exhaust too.

S2000 blowen?? yuck, and that's my personal opinion.

Im not to sure I would want to supercharge a car that is already very tweaked N/A. 120hp/liter is an amazing number for a nonexotic car producer. Plus, I'd be scared to be running a lot of boost in a car that revs to 9000rpm. Seems like something would give over time. Are those kits roots type blowers or centrifugal?

the kits i've seen for s2000 supercharger are roots. Powerband looks like a really laggy turbo....

you mean centrifugal, right? comptech's claims to be a "screw type," which is slightly different and helps lag associated with a centrifugal blower, but it is very similar. being centrifugal, along with the s2000's already high powerband, makes it act "laggy" like a turbo

Get an RX-8. It's already RWD and already has a rotary and is not a Honda.

If I could have afforded the $30k I would have one. The MSP was my second choice. Nothing beats the MSP for $20k, but I honestly don't get people that want to buy a car with a turbo from the factory with custom exhaust, rims, and stereo, then replace the turbo, exhaust, rims, and stereo. The logic escapes me.
