Anyone paint their calipers?

I've never done this before, so I'm not sure exactly what to look for. Will I have to sandblast the paint off the stock calipers first, or can I just clean them and then get started? What kind of paint to use? If I can't find the color I want listed as a caliper paint, are there any alternatives? Could I stick with a high temp clear coat over what I want?

Btw, the look I'm going for is metallic blue calipers. May or may not bother with the drums.

Also, if you have pics you must share them. It's the law.

Yeah, I saw that video, as well as a number of others. But there are still a few questions that it doesn't answer for me.

1. Do you need to remove the coat of silver-ish paint from our calipers before painting a different color?
2. If I can't find the color I want as a 900 degree or whatever paint, can I use a 500 type paint instead, but with a clear 900 coat?
3. Would metallic blue work well on a white Mazda2? What if it was a dark metallic blue?
4. Why aren't there any pictures of painted calipers on the 2?!

1. I would sand it really well first, that should be sufficient.
2. I think you should only need 500 degree for calipers. At least that's what Duplicolor's caliper paint is rated for. I would not use a paint rated for lower heat, even with a higher rated clear coat.
3. Metallic blue would look great on a white car IMO.
4. There is someone here with pink calipers. Can't remember their name.

I painted mine black.. Just used Brake Caliper paint, and sprayed it on. No problems for me.. no sanding, no prep work, nothing. Just spray and go.. with maybe a little dry time too.

Mine are black, the guys that I bought my new tires and rims from did them. Can't be bothered repainting them another colour, probably attract too much unwanted attention.

I sprayed my front with silver hi-temp (500) and did the back drums with black BBQ grill paint and it is just fine. I sprayed over dirt, brake dust and everything else and the paint sticks just fine. My paint job was basically just to freshen up the factory paint. Blue would look awesome, red might look good too. Try whatever you want, if you don't like it then paint over it.

I dont have a 2 but i sprayed my calipers red with caliper paint and well as they did look red they didnt take very well to the elements. So i decided to just powder coat them instead. I didnt care for the red so im doing them gold pearl. If you can swing getting it done then i say coat them, luckly i didnt have to pay for the work since im doing it myself, but im sure you can get them coated for cheap since they are just calipers

The better you prep them the longer it will last. Give it a good scuff with some sand paper, then clean them thoroughly with a wire brush and brake cleaner. then paint, give a good 3 coats and you will be great.
