the black part is the air vent. the aluminum part is the air bag. the yellow wire coming off the air bag is the wire that controls it, so before you go messing with it, disconnect your battery, then unplug that harness.
Yeh I thought thats what it was im not dumb enough to mess with the airbags with out unplugging the battery first. I knew the yellow wire was for the air bags just couldnt see if it went into that box.
*if* you needed to put something there, you can remove the dash cover of the air bag from the aluminum piece and pop it back in the dash. that would be a decent place for a small amp or something like that.
