Anyone in NY or anyone who knos about tints help?

I just got my 3 sedan and was thinking of tinting the windows. Problem is that I live in NY and the laws on tints here are really strict, 70% on all side windows. I was wondering if anyone here is from NY and knows if I can get away with something like 40%? I would really like to tint em for the aesthetics and also for practical purposes but I really can't afford to catch tickets left and right.

Also anyone from NY if you have tinted your windows, where'd you get em done? I need a recommendation as to where to go cuz none of my friends have tinted their windows anywhere near this area. I live in NYC and I go to school in Binghamton so anywhere near either of those places would be great.

I appreciate any input about the topic even if yall aint from NY.

Well right now it is getting really tough to have tints darker than 70% or so.. My protege used to be 20% in the rear window and in the 2 rear glasses, the front glass was 35%. They gave me such a frigin hard time in the Bronx and in westchester, not to mention upstate in newburgh/Orange county area. I basically ended up taking them off, cause I couldn't be bothered to have to always talk my way out of tickets.

I really wouldn't suggest tinting your car heavily right now. Especially after 9/11 and all this terrorist scare s*** going on. They will frigin bugg the s*** out of you.
The next thing that will either come off or get silenced is my damn muffler.

I am working on a turbo set up and don't want excess noise. I can't be bothered with these police buggin me every damn minute.. It really gets agitating.

oh no me & NY po po on tint tickets, If you have dark tint EXPECT to be pulled over if its over 40%, you will be EVENTUALLY

Naw im pretty sure its 70% on all sides and whatever you wanna do in the rear. I looked thru the dmv archives for the info. You guys think i could get away with 50%?(shrug)

holy s***, you can only get 70% on the sides, did not even know they went that high. Man i would be pissed if i could not pick my tint. I have 5% and the state legal is 27%, but I am a rebel (naughty)

I'm from Johnson City. I was stopped in 1992 by the Binghamton PD and given a ticket back when the limit is 35%. I'm not going to bother putting film on unless I can find something really light that won't attract attention. Even then the ticket was $100. Why make the police look at your ride real close? (peep)
