Anyone hear the 'VTEC sound' in their 5?

While I think I noticed this before, today I noticed it bigtime with my windows down in the warm temps. From somewhere in the 5k revs and up, especially full throttle in 2nd and 3rd, I notice a very distinct change in engine noise, an extra growl... similar to, yep, I said it... Honda's VTEC!(shocked) Lol... pretty cool sounding as far as I'm concerned, it'd probably be louder if I had an intake and exhaust. I don't notice any power surge, but the sound kicking in is sudden. Must be the VVT

To better explain the sound I'm hearing, this video is almost identical. If you listen closely at this RSX-S @ 5.8k rpm, this is what I'm hearing.

Its a combination of the cam phase change and the tumbler intake runner blocker things opening. We do not have variable lift.

Yeah, my old 3 hatch had VVT. I thought the only difference between the 3 and 5 engine is the routing of the exhaust in the 5. Thus, the lost of a few hps.

The MZR motor does have variable valve timing, but does not have electronic lift control as in the Honda motors.

I miss my 5 (3 weeks since in repair). I'm very eager to get it back. That big fat sluggish Dodge Grand Caravan is killing me right now. It's lile i'm driving a 10 wheelers.

i love the sound of valuve lift my 03 Vibe Gt has it and its amazing fun it has the VVTL-I in it with a 6 spd alot of fun valuve lift at 6k rpm winds to 8,200 rpm and shift away fast car!

car was a little hard to get use to being i have muscle cars and a pro street hot rod cars with tons of torque than to get it this but really fun the drive , but have to say for the money i really like this 5 aswell not as fast but does the job of people mover quie well and handles great 17" from factory wheels 4 wheels disc and anti lock love it would buy another
