Anyone have pics of an AEM SRI or any other SRI installed?

Gray area. Non optional lighting fixtures are not specificly mentioned and therefore not allowed. Otherwise taking out the fogs could help us lighten the front of the car by a few pounds.

Oh plus I'm told there is sheet metal behind those fogs and they don't contribute to airflow.
When it comes to lightening, you could always go to Carbon Fiber front and rear bumpers...

YIKES! If I had that kind of cash I would have bought those JICs I've always wanted. This is a poor mans racing project. I need a poor mans intake that will work. I think modifying the stock airbox is going to do something at least.

This may seem stupid, but since the rule seams ambiguous, why not move the overflow tank to the new location, and see if they allow you to pass tech. If they let you move the battery and not the overflow tank, it just don't make sense, but that might just be me:) (headbang)

Not to mention who knows where the "right" mounting place for a stock MSP coolant tank is? Most dont even know what an MSP IS!

Ok this whole Hot air on the SRI thing isnt being described properly.....

People seem to think that air has to be blowing into the filter......thus they put it down as low as they can where air blows on it.......THIS isnt necassarily true.. The filter is SUCKING in air it can find....So if the SRI is in the corner by the reserve, its not gonna suck in a whole lot of hot air. If its staight out in front of the fan, then ya your gonna suck in hot air. So its a battle of placement, not SRI/CAI!

My SRI is just fine....however if you cant move the reserve then ur up s*** creek.

As far as the fog lights, would removing them and replacing with an 03.5 front lip be an option, still a factory part on an 03 model year mazdaspeed?

As long as the overflow is properly secured, you would pass tech whether the car is legal for it's class or not. It's not tech's job to police vehicle classing. Their only purpose for being their is to only ensure that all the vehicles and participants are in good working order, and have all saftety equipment needed...

Unless you think you're gonna move beyond your local competition, just move the coolant tank. Nobody will say anything unless somebody files a complaint, which I doubt.

huh? i have an apexi power intake on my car... it rocks. i don't feel any power loss, the delivery is a little more linear. i have it attached to the AEM cold air right now. i used to have it attached to the maf. the only problem is, the IAT sensor will be left hanging. you really don't have a place to drill the filter, or the adapter or the connector. if you decide to get this, buy the 70mm adapter. it'll cost about $75. that comes with the filter, gasket and adapter. driving it felt almost the same, just a little smoother.

Sooooooo....anyone have any pics of an AEM CAI installed? I'm assuming it comes in two pieces, with a pipe to connect to the BPV, like the Injen. I'd still like to see some pics though, even though it's probably the same thing as a INjen.

I don't think that AEM ever actually produced their intake for the MSP. I haven't seen it yet, and I remember something about them shelving the project.

I've seen it listed for sale on several websites, including Adventon.com and apexi. I'm just wondering if anyone has bought it yet, because I am in the market for one and I don't know whether to go with AEM or INjen. I suppose it's all going to come down to looks for me, as both will pretty much perform the same.
