Anyone experience this unusual brake noise on 2021 CX9 CE AWD?

There is a loud metallic clank in the front brake that seems to suggest the pads are moving in the guide. It only occurs when initially moving forward after backing, or backing after moving forward. It’s like they move slightly and then set themselves. I had a very good local mechanic who could not find anything abnormal but theorized that the pads were shifting. There is no Mazda bulletin on it. I will be replacing the pads and rotors soon but just curious if anyone has experience something similar.
