Anyone do a clean rear seat delete?

The first thing I did when I got my P5 was take out the backseat as I wanted the cargo room and have no kids to put in the back. Thus far I just have a black blanket laid down nicely but I was wondering if anyone out there actually created a false floor to level it out in back. I didnt find any aftermarket like are for sale for Mustangs and MINIs, so I am considering making one myself and was looking for any pics/tips/ideas before I get started. Anyone?

There were some pictures posted a long while back of a custom P5 with the rear-side windows, doors, etc. removed and replace with sheet metal and the rear seats removed and deleted...Sort of looked like a mini-cargo van....Search the Protege 5 section, but I can't help ya past that....

(uhm) that totally defeats the purpose of removing the seats doesn't it? Looks to me like all that does is remove cubic feet of cargo room and add more weight than the seats that were taken out. (talking about the ebay one) If you want to make it clean looking i suggest you pad the bolts that stick out of the floor with closed cell foam and upholster it with fabric not unlike the stock one (so there's no gap where the seats were)
Those foot wells are useful to keep heavy items from sliding around. I sometimes carry rc planes and a lot of gear in mine and the field power supply i use is a 100 amp deep cycle battery; it and my flight bag fit right in there and don't risk sliding back onto my fragile planes like they would if it was a flat surface.

(Nitro F4U Corsair, Piper Cub, Eagle II, and an unlabeled old beasty... I need to start to fly again....)

I have to agree with ProtoType5, that car came out just ugly looking. Nothing on the outside of that looks right. And I am not a fan of those graphics. Plus, he says the interior is from a 2003 mazdaspeed, but the cupholders are 2002 all the way.

Well it is clean, but that interior is pretty boring now.

I started my project. I have the base done and need to find some fabric to cover it now. I will post pics when finished. It may not be as clean as the ebay P5, but it will look decent for my purposes.

i don't own a protege5, but i've seen a couple. don't the rear seats already fold flat? if you're looking for weight reduction, why not remove the seat bottoms and head rests, and just fold the seat backs down and leave 'em like that?

they don't exactley fold flat and I don't know if they will still fold with out the bottom portion of the seat. If they do though, they would probably fold flat because its the bottom of the seat that keeps them from folding flat.

i thought the seat bases in the pro5 fold forward into the foot weel, so that the seat backs could fold flat?

they do... bottoms fip over and down, the backs fold down. pretty darn flat if you ask me.

plus, it takes about 30 seconds to detach the seat bottoms once you flip them down for even more room. The instructions are in the owners manual, but if you can't figure it out...

yeah that's as far as I'm gonna go w/ that one.

looks like it might have been used for a custom sound system. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't gut the car and then leave it empty like that, not for a show car.

My rear seats had a rip in them, so just folding them down was out. Here's how it turned out. Not to bad for $15 in materials.
