i got an extra set of oem springs that you could pick up incase something goes wrong...i'd do 50 shipped to your door!

Dont do it. Makes everything just worst from experience from a 2nd gen rx7. Even if you melt it, its really not practical. If you want to lower your ride, do it right by either going springs, coilovers, or full set up. For now, just be patient. Trust me, the ride quality plus suspension will be off if you cut the springs, plus not the mention how comftable the oem springs are right now, its not worth it at all.

Pyr0tek cuts his stock MSP springs....sits slightly lowerd than mine (Eibach Sportlines) and the ride is actually pretty decent. if you are strapped for cash id say go for it! you can PM Pyr0tek (thats a zero not an O) and ask him personally.

NEVER cut springs! If you can't come up with $150 bucks or so for springs, look for used here, or just leave it alone. By cutting you'll loose performance, worsen ride, and nothing good can come of it. I know this from experience, did it back in '86 on a friends car, and he regretted it.

There is no "right way" to do it!

In case it hasn't been said enough yet- DON'T DO IT! Get some used springs or check the group buy forum here. DON'T CUT YOUR STOCK SPRINGS.
(peep)

Normally I'm all about savin a dollar. But in this case I have to agree with them rest DON'T DO IT!

I was wondering the same thing back when i was a newbie. I looked at the coils all sitting there compressed and wondered "why cant you cut the first 2 compressed coils off?" it seemed logical. But then i learned about spring rates and big bumps in the road that uncompress the suspension almost all the way. Then i found Eibach. The last cut coils i rode on were in my 56 Bel-Air. Rode like crap handled like crap and that was cuz someone cut all the coils 3 inches.

Please DON'T!!! Knew someone that did it to a Maxima to save money and they hated it!!!

absolutely under no circumstances should you chop the springs, suspension performance and ride quality will get considerably worse.

No matter how straight & even cut it is the ride will be horrible. I've seen too many cars that's not only slammed to the ground but wobbling side to side going 70 on a freeway (ughdance)

I've seen a stock es protege with the fronts trimmed a little. Looked clean and seemed to ride ok. On a civic, whatever. But the protege was blessed with very impressive handling caracteristics, and that shouldn't be jerked with. I picked up a set of Progress springs here on the board from a local member for $70.

Don't do it. Your going to make the ride crappy and it's dangerous. There's got to be someone selling their set here. Peace out!
