There is a video on youtube on how to adjust your shifter for a speed3, but the speed6 looks different. After installing jbarone ssp I have a really difficult time shifting hard into 2nd gear (racing) casual driving doesnt have a problem but 50% of the time it just doesnt feel right.

I didnt want to break anything so ive been cautious not to get to creative with it. Here is what im looking at.

I have moved the white clip, but i really cant see how it does anything at all. The pinkish clip I would think is what if anything would make a difference. Underneath the pink clip is a spring...

If anyone has adjusted this piece let me know what you did. Its quite simple to get at.

email Jamie, he'll answer and set you straight real quick. I think you just pull/push the pink clip also, but he'll tell you for sure.

After you pull that white clip to the side, the pink plastic clip needs to push outword out of the black housing towards the shifter.

this will allow the linkage to slide foward and back.
**WARNING: before making that step, take a sharpy and mark on the metal linkage rod where the stock positioning is.**
This way if you over adjust, you can always go back to where you started.
Make very VERY minor adjustments, this will help line up with shift gates depending on what kind of bias your shifter currently has.

a weighted shift knob will also help your aggressive shifts.
i will be doing that soon. as far as gate alignment, mine are pretty damn good now.

Thanks a bunch for the post! Jamie did get back with me very quickly but he couldnt remember on the speed 6. he thought if i took the white clip off it would do it, but i was pretty sure the pink one had more to do with it.

im going to go adjust it now.

Yay! no more grinding, thanks a ton batou79! I didnt use a sharpie, i just did some trial and error until it felt right. I took it for a drive all my gears work good and did some flat foot shifts into 2nd and 3rd and no more grinding!

there is no need for the sharpie.
there is no need to make a reference mark. what good is it? it will be the old position of where it didnt work.
You can visually see the teeth on the mechanism, and you can also see why the shifter will not go into second. The reverse lock pin hits the gaurd.

all it takes is a tooth or two while pushing the shifter slightly to the right.

glad its working out for you as this is a great product.

Thanks batou079 for supplying the how to...I appreciate it very much. It's been so long since I've been in there I forgot about moving the pink clip.

I'm glad things are working well for you buttons.

Thanks,
Jamie

it is for referrence, and stock placement.
Ever going fully back to stock with your car? it would make readjusting the linkage for stock shifting a breeze.
Ever over-adjust things, and for the life of you are too fustrating to calmly get it back to even working properly? this would make it a breeze.

the "teeth" are so small, it'd be a PITA to try and count them for any type of reference.
sharpy was just an idea, many of which have found useful in the past. by no means is it a "must". do as you please. :D

I never plan on going back to stock. im driving this car until the wheels fall off. Then Ill get another speed 6 and use the old one as a parts car :-)

I only had a black sharpie so it was pointless. If i had a silver sharpie i could of marked the shaft but oh well :-)

I put on my SSP today and all went well. My problem now is when shifting into 1, 3, and 5, the shifter doesn't seem to want to stay put. I have to feather the clutch and hold the shifter forward to get it to engage the gear. 5th is the worst. I followed the directions on fine tuning the shifter by moving it forward and backwards in small increments, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Did you purcahse the shifter bushings as well? Also please verify the installation is correct and nothing odd is making contack in the odd gears. Sounds to me like something is preventing full engagement of the odd gears. This is not something I've seen or heard of before. I'm wondering if the CPE MM is having some affect. Unlikely; just wondering. Please give everything a good once over with someone helping to shift the car while you watch the movement of the linkage.

Thanks,
Jamie
