Does anybody know the process on removing the steering wheel on a P5.. I got the airbag off and the main bolt on the middle off, but that was it that wheel wasn't even budging the slightest bit.
Any input would be awsome
Thanks
:wtf:
1.Airbag unit (which you did)
That should expose the Steering wheel nut.
2.Remove that nut
3.Behind the steering wheel are two more screws that need removing.
Think that is about it for the steering wheel itself.
Those to screws behind the wheel you're talking aboutm those are the ones that allow me to take the airbag unit off. Either than that i don't see anymore.. It seems like the wheel has to be removed using some kind of special tool... to slowly pry it off.
Let me know if that isn't it just going off memory. Probably head outside in a bit to see what else maybe on the wheel for removal. Or when I get home I'll browse through the shop manual quickly.
Yeah i don't think thats just it... Behind the wheel are to rubber plugs that cover the screws on each side once those are off the air bag comes off easily. After that i took off main bolt (big) and thats were the fun ended. I could figure it past that.
I really appreciate your help
Hmm there maybe some sorta of clamping device holding the wheel itself to the column.
Could remove the Column cover to get a better look behind the steering wheel. There is one possible two screws under the column cover. Then the top should snap right off the bottom piece
Believe there was some sorta of puller that could be used to get the wheel away from the column. But please don't beat the shaft
 Not good to hit that thing really hard.
you will need a puller to get it off there is no clamp that is holding it togeather....it is like a gear puller that will push on the stud and pull the wheel.....go to your auto parts and see if they have one for rent....
