2017~2025: Anybody use a washable CX-5 CAF?

Even the generic cabin air filters are $12-$15 these days. Right now, K&N is having a 20% off sale, making their washable CAF $38.39 w/free shipping. Seems like a no-brainer, paying for itself in under 3 filter changes.

I'm honestly not a huge fan of their engine air filters, but a cabin air filter seems like a much less critical application. Has anybody tried one? What is your experience? Thanks

As said above, you can buy the standard filters on Amazon for about $5-6 each. Why not just get a new filter every year rather than going through the washing/drying of the K&N? If you do a filter every 12k/12mths that would be 6yrs of filters to buy the K&N.

This^

Plus, you shouldn't need to replace the filter for 2-3years (1 year is overkill), so works out even better!

Don't laugh but use air& furnace filters from Lowes large green 36x15 and cut to size for cabin and engine filter. Works great in both more air movement and still filters also washable.

LOL-Oh; sorry😆

I have them in both my CX-9 and CX-5 and just took them out after a year to wash with plain water, shake out and let dry. Good as new. They let more air flow through them while still catching nasty stuff. You really should be changing these things yearly of not twice a year. The regular paper ones accumulate and give off odors since they are made of paper that holds moisture and and are more restrictive. Since the air con system is subpar in these cars, having a less restrictive filter allows more air flow and the blower motor to work less hard moving the air through the vents to cool things down quicker or heat faster. That's my take and opinion. Worth the investment to me.

This can't be a serious post...
Just in case it is... NEVER use a furnace filter for an engine intake filter. The furnace filter will not clean the incoming air anywhere near as well as a proper engine filter, allowing for greater wear and shorter engine life.

If you want to use it in your cabin filter, you can go right ahead, but I doubt it'll work as well there either. Still, no car-life issues if you do it.
