After 24h with this lens... Tiny Nikon 18-55 is better build quality in the long run, I dont like that focus ring turns, there's no AF/MF it's either one or the other and it's a bit "stiff" when you want to zoom-in, doesnt "glide" like Nikon. Aparat from that, I'm satisfied. Pics look good and sharp, but there is some color fringing that can be seen when zoomed in 100%.
Considering that Nikons counterpart @f2.8 costs three times more, here at least, I'm very satisfied.
Next stop Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 in the long term...

I got one of theese lenses used myself and I definitely agree on what you're saying here. It's a simple build and the focus is a bit slower and noisy compared to Nikon SWM, but I think it's a very good walkaround lens in the evening / nighttime due to the fixed f2.8 at a very decent price. I think it's a very good value despite sometimes having to focus multiple times before I agree on the focus point because switching to manual most times isn't and option and when I do the focus ring definitely feels stiff.
Mine did that too when I got it used, it's a very easy fix for it and mine hasn't come loose since. This is what helped me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiOj-7MAO_w
I got mine used and it was that way when I got it, I think it was just under a year old, but like the video shows it's and easy fix if it happens to your lens.
It was, just take care not to scratch the glass when taking of the outter ring and you'll be fine!

looks like you need to geta tripod though for long exposure though..
started going through some pics of my week journey around western washington..

^dude...we just can't compete with that...especially #2! I would have liked to see more headroom though, it looks kinda cramped.

Thanks. It's actually a pedestrian bridge over that street. There's a school near there so the kids have to have some way to cross. Been using that bridge for like 18 years now. Good times.

thanks bud, can say the same with your work though! agree with you on the crampedness..the lighting above that point was harsh however..plus loved the position of that rock in the foreground and was maxed out at 10mm :/ need to start looking into the 8-16!!
awesome capture! always liked long exposures of roadways! really like how the vanishing point..actually vanishes
