MazdaDan had a good idea over in another thread, so here we go...

Are any of you folks into competitive shooting/plinking/hunting?

I've been shooting competitively for a while now in the IDPA, and GSSF. It's damn fun, and a good way to familiarize yourself with defensive shooting. I'm not a hunter really... I like to go hiking, but I don't go out in the woods with the intention of killing something. I kill lots of paper and time. :) Anyways, I figured I'd list some of the guns I carry/shoot on a regular basis, and figured maybe some of you guys/gals might like to as well. I spent 4 years in the military as an MP, and decided I really liked shooting sports... As this list below shows I guess. For those of you who don't shoot or anything, I hope I don't come across as some gun toting freak.

Here you go...

For Carry:
Kimber Pro Carry II Stainless - .45
Glock Model 23, Trijicon, Ext. Mag/slide catch - .40
Taurus PT145 (Compact) - .45
Kel-tec - .32ACP
Beretta Tomcat Stainless- .32 (G/F's car)
Taurus stainless 2-inch revolver - .38 (G/F's house)

For Fun:
Smith and Wesson 22s Bull - .22
Beretta 92F Night Sights, ~25 or so 15rd. magazines - 9mm
Beretta 92F Centurion Stainless - 9mm
Glock Model 22 - .40
H&K USP - .45
Taurus Model 627SS 4in. 7-shot - .357 Mag
Marlin Model 60 Stainless - .22
Ruger 10/22 Target Bull, Hogue Overmolded, Nikon 6x12- .22
Winchester Model 1300 Defender 8-shot 18in. - 12 Guage
Izmash Arsenal AK-47 Synthetic- 7.62X39
Springfield Armory M1A Stainless Natl. Match - .308
DPMS 20' Panther Bull (Ar-15 Variant) - .223 REM
Winchester Model 70 Short Action(Cryo, Bedded, Fluted, the works.. ~1/4 MOA at 100 yards) - .308Win
H&R Synthetic Single Shot, Leupold Vari-X 2 - .30-06
Remington 870 youth - 20 guage (My g/f wanted to hunt, even if I don't. :) )

I guess that's it. I've been shooting/collecting for quite some time... Maybe I can keep from buying another one for a while though.

Anybody else wanna share? :)

I'm mainly into target shooting when I have the time...usually once a week and when funds allow me to. I don't have quite the collection as fastdrvr23 does, but heres mine:

SIG Sauer P225 - Nice and compact single stack mag 9mm
CZ 40B - .40 cal - 1911 style frame
CZ 97B - .45 cal - This gun is my pride and joy...one of the most accurate 45's I have ever shot (Better than ones such as SIG and Kimber)

Not many people around here are too familiar with CZ firearms, but if you ever get a chance to check one out, you will love it.

Here's a question for the gun enthusiasts.....Where do you buy your ammo and what are some of the best deals you have gotten?

9mm - $10.96/100 rounds at Wally World (Wal-Mart)
.40 S&W - 7.50/50 rounds form www.precisionammo.com
.45 - Not sure what is best deal, but www.midwayusa.com has decent prices

I've bought some from www.cheaperthandirt.com before... But usually I buy from a distributor here in Jackson that the police dept uses. Most of the rounds I buy are new Winchester "Range" .40 185gr. FMJ in 50 round boxes. I buy in the 500 round case for $70.00 cash total. Whatever that amounts to per box. I only reload .308 and .223 currently.. I need to get the dies and all for .40, but I never remember too.
My dad reloads .45's and 9mm so I am covered there.

Are the CZ pistols that good? I've heard people say that they shot really good... That's one of the few brands I've never had any experience with. I might have to check those out. :)

I should look into reloading, except i'm so lazy. The big guns are so much fun to shoot, but the price of larger caliber ammo just doesn't make it cost effective.

I was leary of CZ at first, but after doing some research and shooting a few of my friend's, I was addicted. If you get the opportunity, I would at least check out the CZ 97B. It is a very nice weapon. .45 cal with a 10 round mag and it gets a very tight spread. My girlfriend loves shooting it too, since the recoil is very controlled for a .45

I have a Glock 23 that I pretty much just shoot for fun. I find it a great stress reliever. I've wanted this pistol since I turned 21 but the funds didn't allow it. I purchased it roughly 5 months ago and today is my 23rd bday. Having a job is great. Now I can finally do s***.

Gosh doesn't anyone else own any rifles/shotguns anymore?

Rifles: Marlin .357 Mag, Winchester 30-30, Antique Winchester Model 67 .22, a Marlin (I think) semi .22, 50cal Itialian Made Muzzleloader (flintlock)

Shorguns: New England 20ga, New England 10 ga (Yes that's right a 10 ga), 12 ga double barrel (don't recall what brand), 12 ga pump (don't recall what brand), 12 ga Goose gun (don't recall what brand, but this thing is awesome. Bolt action w/ a 3 shell clip, it about 5+ feet long).

I think there are some more we have but can't thnk of what else off the top of my head. Oh yeah and an old .22 relvolver.:D

Yeah, I havn't even thought about shooting that one yet. I don't think I'm heavy enough to not get thrown backward by it.

Many years ago, before I went into the service I use to hunt quite a bit....had lots of free land to hunt on...not anymore....then I did a lot of bird hunting....

NOW, I just plink now and then....while I was in the service I got interested in Black Powder weapons.....

I now have two 50 Cal.'s...a Hawken and a Penn Long Rifle....I also have a colt second model dragoon 44 cal pistol.

I still have a 20 ga. single shot that was my dads...he got when he was 11.....I used it to hunt squirls when I was in Jr. High.....it kicks like a mule! lol

I also have my Springfield Armory 1911a 45 apc for plinking too. I love that piece more than any of the others.

Oh yeah...I have a Mossberg 30-06 that I have had since highschool too. JUST IN CASE....I have a bunch of millitary issue armor pericing ammo for it..... :{D

yeah...some people are gun freaks (those that own like 50 guns) as for me...two handguns...

baretta .22...my first handgun...it's like a pea shooter
glock 19...excellent weapon shoots true and straight...

never got into rifles or hunting these two are just for self-defense and the range...

Canadiens own guns too, they are mostly hunting rifles thou.

I think its safe to say the vast majority of canadiens do not own any guns thou, we a country of hippies. (did you guys hear we are de-criminalizing marijuana!)

sir nuke, a 1911 45 for plinking. god, id hate to see what you use to really mess something up. ive got a ruger 11??( dont have in front of me) 357, a pos 9mm for plinking, 2 12 gauges( one for birds, 1 for everything else), savage 270. i used to live in the country and i used to shoot a lot but i moved to the city and dont have anywhere to go. anyone have a desert eagle. i shot a friend of mines and it whas a frigin hand held anti-aircraft gun.

What is plinking

just going out in the woods somewhere and setting up some makeshift targets....or pickin out things that are just laying around and shooting at them.....nothing serious like going to a range and using REAL targets....in other words....just messing around.

Frady....if the 45 isn't doing the trick...I will take one of my 50 cals....they are a blast...litterly! lol

I had one of these for about a month. I loved the s*** out of it, but it was just to big to carry on my person, which is why I bought it. I sold it for a Colt Defender 45 and all I can say is DAMN! A friggin' hand cannon as small as a 9mm!
