Any Mazda or Ford Techs in here?

Hey guys, great forum you've got here! I'm wondering if any of you can help a guy out, let alone a whole group of fellow posters over at the fordfusionclub. I did a search (here) on this but came up empty handed. My guess is because no one knows or it's never been discussed before, I hope I'm wrong.

Anyway, I own a 2006 Ford Fusion that the wife and I just bought. I used to sell Mazdas for awhile so I know the vehicles pretty well. I also know that that Fusion shares many of the underpinnings with a 6. So, with that in mind, does anyone know if the Mazda 6 springs are the same as the Ford Fusion springs in terms of fitment? I know the Fusion springs are softer, but what about how they fit in on the car? BTW, just for a basis, I'm talking OEM for OEM right now.

The problem I, as well as other FFC members have, is that our aftermarket spring support is not even remotely close to what you guys have available. There are only a few options for us. I thought maybe if any of you are a Mazda or Ford Technician, or know someone who is, maybe you could shed some light on this? I would appreciate it and I'm pretty certain that my fellow members on FFC would as well. Spread the knowledge so to speak. Who knows, maybe one of these days something else will come up and we can return the favor. (2thumbs)

If this doesn't work my next step will be to go down to the dealership I used to work at. I still know some of the techs there. Maybe we can get a 6 up on a lift and visually compare the two side-by-side. I would have done this already but it's like 1.5hrs away from where I live now.

Thanks in advance, guys!

BTW, I've been a lurker here for awhile because I used to use the site as a product learning tool when I sold the Mazdas. A lot of the members here really know their stuff. This would be my first post.

welcome to this side of the internet :)

as for your question, i don't believe they are the same, but i do not know for sure. i know that the non-speed 6 springs don't really work well with the speed6, so i would assume it would be similar from the 6 to the fusion

I was thinking the same thing. I would think that a 6i would be closer to a Fusion I-4, which works for me because thats what I have. Of course, I am also wondering if the 6s would be the same as a Fusion V-6. I am pretty sure that the AWD Speed6 is different than an AWD Fusion. If I remember correctly, the Speed6 is built in Japan although I could be mistaken (I'm sure you guys know). I don't remember as I haven't been around them in the last 9 months.
