I am new to the forum and a new Mazda 2 owner. I was wondering if there were any other Mazda 2 owners from Long Island and if so could any of you recommend a good shop to have mods done around here?

Im also new to this forum, new to this car and live on long island. What kind of mods are you looking to do. Most of the aftermarket available for our cars are simple bolt on's. Instead of paying someone to do it, I recommend doing it your self and learning your vhiecle. If you need a hand, i could help as well. Im purchasing an exhaust, springs & shocks, and torsion bars within the next month. So if those mods are on your list, I could help install them.

Hello evocanival,

Good to know there are some local people who own and are enthusiastic about their Mazda 2s. Since I bought mine last month I have not seem another one on the road and I take the LIE to work everyday. This is the first car since I was much younger that I actually want to mod once the warmer weather arrives. Right now I want to keep it simple ...I was thinking Racing Beat Muffler, front strut brace, rear torsion, and if I am feeling adventurous the front sway bar. Thanks for your kind offer. What county are you in?

I'm also in suffolk county.... are you guys going to autox this season? And like Evocanival says mostly bolt on and pretty easy.

No autox for me. I bought mine automatic so my family can drive. I have other cars that I own and play with anyway. If I would have gotten a manual 2, then it would have turned into more then what I need it for.

Autox is pronounced "auto cross". Its a form of racing. Many people do it around the states for its low entry cost to fun ratio. It can get serious though. It's mainly preformed in parking lots of stadiums or large areas and the course is outlined in cones. Just search Google.

Our cars are set-up great for autox. Just trying to get some 2's to come out. I think as of right now I'm the only 2 running in long island... Not sure for the coming up season.

Thanks. I dont really have the time for racing but I do like to attack a corner / clover leaf or two. I am mostly interested in some bolt on handling mods maybe a racing beat muffler just to spice things up.

Hey if you guys want to meet up at Nassau Colosseum for an autox event let me know and ill make the trip. Otherwise Jeff and I are at every NNJR event @ MET LIFE stadium competing in STF.
