Any LAWYERS or INSURANCE agents here that can help?

:
03 MSP > 03.5 MSP > 05 Evo8 GSR > 10 EvoX MR-t > 96 MX-5
as some of u know i totalled my car........

they valued it with everything at $17,171
the payoff is $16,673

i will be getting the difference of $498

NOW, my question is this....
i put down $4,500 when i bought the car, should the insurance at least partially refund my down payment?
if i get another speed, would Mazda USA give me a partial refund on DP?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated

-Victor

i dont think you can get that back....the reason your payoff is so low is because you put such a high down payment. to refund that would make your payoff higher and give you less meaning you owe. its just going to be a trade off id say.

btw, vic, you better get another speed. you total your car but yet you still post in there like every damn day and answer questions and s***. you obviously liked the car, you NEED another.

yeah, s*** well that sux, that's what i thought.

oh and yeah.........u say get another speed? hehe, i would not consider anything but!
there's nothing that can compare to this car!

Reason you did not get much back (my guess),

1. You are not getting back any interest you paid during the time of your loan.

2. Kelly Blue Book or Edmunds does not have the MSP, so they probably based the price on a base Protege

3. Dealer invoice on the car, which KBB and Edonds base is only 19000.00.

no of course not, he knows not what he speaks.

they would give you so much because it is not 2004 yet and they must base their estimate off of the MSRP minus wear and tear (about 10 percent). i know this because ijust refinanced my p5 and they are valuing it at 17100. obviously its not worth that.

damn.......

well i guess it could have been worse.....i could have ended up oweing money...

Actually, $17K is quite high, I think. If you were to trade the car in at a dealer, you would never get that much for it. You also "lost" the sales tax which was probably about $1,500.

Atleast you came out on top. Buy Gap insurance next time just in case your not so lucky, if it were to happen again.

I'm really surprised you even got $17K. That's pretty good. What insurance company do you have? You didn't even need GAP insurance since the insurance company gave you more than what you owed. You wanna total my P5 now :D
