I have installed the corksport intake system (including their inlet pipe). Since I was overboosting I was changing back to my factory tmic and swapped my cobb sri out and put this in at the same time. Also swapped greddy-rs in recirc for hks ssq in vta. Yeah, it was that kind of night.
I'll start with the negative:
First thing I noticed about the inlet pipe was damn the thing is tiny. It does match the turbo inlet size, so not gonna knock on that. Second, after install I looked online and apparently my wastegate solenoid port was bent almost 90 degrees. Almost worried to try and bend it back cause it might snap. There is also a mounting tab that bent very easily until we weren't sure how it was supposed to go. We also had to drill it out because the hole wasn't large enough. Because of the flexing tab, my filter is pointing a bit upward and has been bent at the corner from closing the hood.
The positive:
Price can't be beat for everything you get. Except for the points I noted above, quality is pretty much top notch. You even get full instructions and t-clamps for everything, which was a really nice touch!! I was worried about no air straightener but testing showed they didn't need it and I haven't seen any red flags. The ends of the pipes were rolled too. AEM dry flow filter installed, no more oiling.
The install was about 3 hours for everything including taking our sweet time, eating diner, and drinking a few beers. Taking the battery box is mandatory, but I could do it now in under 10 minutes. It really is easy and worth it. I didn't notice any performance gain since I was downgrading from my intercooler, but I assume it's about the same as the cobb.
The sound is about the same inside the cabin. My buddy said it sounds a bit louder outside, and I kind of get that too. When you hear the suction start, the tone hints that it's louder outside. I can't really explain. The turbo def spools faster though. Of course on this car, who needs a faster spool??
So why even get a turbo inlet? If you ever see your factory one, it's pathetic. Even if you don't see horsepower numbers, it's gotta be doing something. And for those wondering, I am not overboosting now that I have the factory tmic (sad face) and I am running the hks ssq in vta without much issue, just rich shifting bogging a bit and the occasional small backfire, zero idle issues. I even took the fin out and just get a very loud WHOOOOSH, not the snap most valves get.
