Well as we all know i am buying a P5, but i would love to buy it on my own, without having my dad co-sign. I am going over 7 years, so my payments will be reasonable, but i still want to be doing everything myself. I know that people say a master card or visa helps, but you need a co-signer for those. WHat if someone like me doesn't have a co-signer? Eventhough i do for the car, as long as i save a months worth of wages first, kinda bad, but if that what it takes for me to get my P5 then i'll do almost anything. Now anyone have any suggestions, on how maybe i can do this myself?

(puke) (omg)

Just put a big down payment...as much as you can...I didn't have a co-signer and I was 21 when I bought my car...I did put $8,000 down...but I am sure you can put less and still not need a co-signer...good luck!!!

I didn't have a cosigner but i paid up front. the thing is that you need someone older to go with you just to be sure you dont get screwed on price (and interest if you are financing).

I got the MP3 on basically my 18th birthday... well the day before.. so i was 17... and i went in w/ a guy that i knew from work, who has dealt with dealerships in the past, just to make sure i didnt get screwed... but anyway.. i paid cash for the whole car... now when i look back on it.. i should have just put a big fat down payment and made payments to build up my credit... but i wasnt thinkin ahead.. in fact... all the money that i got from the settlement is gone... i spent 65 G's in 5 months... god i hate being young and stupid... (it was fun as hell tho)

i'd say... just put down a big fat payment and they'll forget what the word co-signer even means :)

good luck

Where the heck did you get 65 g's from? I would have just bought a house.......

shoulda just put the leftover 45 or so into the mp3... lol... that would be NUTS..

I dont think i COULD spend that much on the MP3

20,000 more and i think it would be as complete as its gonna get lol

but yah.. i tried to put some into savings and investments.. but ended up pulling it all out because i was lazy and didnt wanna get a job untill i HAD to... thats also why my brakes are so fuct.. was broke after all the money was gone.. and wasnt workin yet
but now i got my s*** together...

i shoulda put a nice fat down payment on a condo.. but oh well

live and learn... even tho im never going to get an opportunity like that again in my life... and that upsets me... but im still one of the very few ppl that can say i spent sixty five thousand dollars in a 5 month period... thats an avg of about 13k a month... 3k a week or about 300 some a day isnt it?? damn...

thats only bout 100 less than what i make a WEEK now... damn.. that sucks...

the one good thing tho is... even if any of you wanna say "oh he got his car given to him.. blah blah blah.." just like most ppl get when they find out that some little prissy rich as ho's parents bought her a new 328i or somethin... but almost EVERYTHING aftermarket on the car im paying for w/ hard earned cash... so talk whatever s*** you want but im still putting all my own hard work and money into the car... even if i did get money for the car from a settlement... (i know im getting defensive before anyone even says anything.. but i cant help it)

and for those that are curious as to why an 18 year old got 65 thousand dollars... when i was 5 i was trampled by a horse at the Rose Parade (world famous parade they have here in Pasadena every new years day... ppl flock from around the world to come to it.. you should see Colorado Blvd. the night before... DAMN!) i was sitting in the front row and some dumbass little 14 yr old girl was riding a clydesdale.... not a good combination... so the horse lost control and SMACK... stomped my poor little 5 year old chest right in... broke a bunch of ribs along w/ all kinds of other minor injuries like broken shin, bruises, cuts, blah blah

anyway.. thats the story

Peace

I was 18 when I bought my P5. They just put two on the lot, a black 5-speed and red automatic. I went with the auto 'cause I'm not too good with the manual, but now that I look back, all I needed was a little practice...shoulda went for the manual... more fun to drive...coulda turbo charged it...ahh well.... live and learn I guess...

I used to work as a loan officer for a mortgage company so i can tell you, get a credit card when u turn 18, then make your monthly payments every single month, without being late. Do that for at least 16-18 months. You dont have a credit history anytime before 16-18 months! You may have to put a decent size down payment, but you should be able to get the autoloan w/out any problems.

this is just my opinion, some finance orginizations work under different guidelines and this does not guarantee that you will qualify for an autoloan, this will however improve your credit.

To get a loan a lot easier, apply @ a credit union. They have awesome rates and will work with people even if your credit is not that great, or if you dont have credit.

7 years of payments? you know how much you will pay in interest. by the time you are done paying for the car you could have owned a mercedes or something.
