Another XM thread

I'm not very positive, but I think there should be an auxmod available for the mazda 6, this will do as you were asking and give you an auxilary input using your MD or whatever button. It will give you a direct line-in connection which should be better than the tape adapter (which IS indeed superior to fm wireless by far, and only has a slight edge over FM MOD simply due to frequency responce.)

I'm really unsure why some ppl feel the need to post uneducated blanket statements. Sorry about that, I'll check at work tomorrow what all's available unless there is something listed online.

thats what i thought. just getting a new head unit for a 6 isnt as easy as you think. just for the custom face plate is $150 then you still have to buy teh unit.

Well soon im gettin an AVIC-N2 so my Pioneer Premier 760 is xm ready 2004 model, just go find specs on it and ull see what it looks like, will soon be up for grabs. So if you want ima get rid of it for prolly 100 bux.

Apparantly ther eis an auxmod somewhere avaialabe that sells for $50, I can't really find any direct linkage to them, but seanmcsean seems to have one. I'd assume the other 6 sites have it listed. Unless you'd also like Ipod or other MP3 player connectability as well, which means you can get one of these guys: http://www.therpmstore.com/index.php?cPath=26_42&osCsid=93dcdc2c3054ad1cda26dddd168cb5bf
They are somewhat spendy at $140, but they'll give you ipod or misc mp3 connection/control as well as an additional aux-in for your XM

As for the discussion of FM-mod, FM-direct, or tape adapter, using a tape adapter clearly provides the best quality over any type of FM modulation. However, this is acceptable ONLY if the HU does not support aux-in. Since the MZ6 HU does support aux-in (via aftermarket products), do not settle for FM-mod, or get a cassette player only for aux-in. Instead, get either the RPM audio link or the Sylfex AuxMod.

The RPM audio link plugs into the rear of the HU in the port to which an external CD changer would plug in. The Sylfex Auxmod plugs into the HU port that the tape or minidisc player would use. Basically, this adapter provides a 3.5mm stereo minijack that is "live" when you press the "MEDIA" button on the HU. Click here for their info. You'll probably have to contact them to find out when their next shipment of products arrives, since they're out of stock due to high popularity.
