It's been raining alot here in the Houston area for the past couple of days....quick storm came through....streets got high water spots quick....made it few a couple of them...but the last one got me....engine died 3/4 of the way through the water...rolled to a stop in dry street...waited there for an hour...tried to tow it back to the house...friend's tow cable BROKE on us while in tow...not fun there. Pushed it into a parking lot, called mazda's free roadside assistance, got it towed to a tow shop who will take it to the dealer in the morning...but had to wait 2hrs and 45min for a truck to show up. Ugh..so tired...guess I'll see whats up with the engine tomorow afternoon....we tried to start it while waiting for the truck to arrive..it starts up..but boggs right down right away and tries to stay alive...but dies. at myself for not just waiting it out. (sad1) over my car.

dude, i am sorry to hear that, just got to meet you on saturday too. hopefully it will not be anything major. keep us posted...

Sounds like water got up in the coil packs and around the plug wires, when it dries tomorrow it will probibly start right up... If you sucked water in the intake, it wouldnt start and try to stay running. They call it hydrolock for a reason. Good luck

(mswerd).

Let us know what happened.

good luck man! tonight i was driving in the middle of 2 lanes to stay outta the water.

Hydro lock usually isn't that big of a deal. Yeah, water near the coil packs will do it. Also pull the spark plugs, if theres wierd corrosion on them, that "was" water. Also change the oil.

Looks like there's no damge to the engine (rods, valves, ect.). Said the air filter was wet. Now they (Jay Marks Mazda) want to charge around 2000 for taking apart the engine and transmission and "cleaning it". Think I'm gonna try something else....

lol nice.....they can be some sneaky fuckers

LOL..this under warrenty...I wish...then I could do stpuid things to it all the time and never worry.

Here's a copy of the estimate for what they want to do. Looks like they are treating it as if my car was stuck in some pretty deep water for some time...which it wasn't. The water was only about curb high, which is about 4 inches..and it rolled right through it...

its going to take 30 hrs or a week to clean up the car and it actually cost 139 for a trans flush!!!! WTF can we say ****!

You: I went through a puddle and car stalled
them: well first what we have to do is pull down your pants then you bend over!

Sounds to me like they were CYA (covering their asses). Assume they just did an oil change and shipped it....then a week later the transmission s**** the bed. Guess what it would be free for you but they would have to pay. I think those prices are reasonable when you consider parts also...maybe alittle high. I highly suggest you either do this work yourself or shell out the bux to have someone do it.

Looks like me and Discreet are going to be checking the car out ourselves tomorow...we'll see what happens...
