Angle Grinder:1 Rusty Nuts:0

The "washer" on the left was actually a nut to begin with...

Nah, I had all the hardware - only slight problem was the bolts that came with the awr enlinks are not threaded down the shank far enough, so when fully "tightened" the endlinks were not tight - the nut was just hitting the unthreaded section on the bolt.
Easily solved with several packing washers, though.

bwahaha, awesome!!! How long did it take you? I used a dremel and it took fooooooreeeeeeeeevvverrr

Well, I wasted 2 hours going with the "PB blaster, hex key in the end of the bolt and ring spanner on the nut" approach. I actually managed to get one nut halfway off before the stupid hex socket rounded off.
It really is the worst piece of design I can imagine.
Took 5 mins with the grinder - I was a little worried with the amount of sparks flying around in the vicinity of the gas tank at one point :-|

I started the job with a dremel, but kept breaking those silly fragile cutting disks so ending up finishing with the grinder...

hahaha...awsome.

i always try the correct way, but starting to learn that does not work on the protege that much. then we gotta break out the toys and get at the problem!

brute force for the win.
+1!

What do the endlinks do? Ive read various threads bout them, but im really not familiar with what they're for.

You serious? They connect your swaybars to the shocks.

Ahhhh...memories.
My first shot at an endlink and I ended up doing the same thing, looked exactly like that. After replacing an endlink I purchased my air tools, and with a good soaking of PB Blaster, all 4 endlinks came loose in seconds. After hours spent with the hex tool, wrenches, rachets, etc. I said there has got to be an easier way.

Funny, I read so much about these and the problems involved...

I just put on a set of Eibach springs and new Tokico blues all the way around. Didn't have any problems witht the endlinks whatsoever! I was all worked up and paranoid because of everything I've heard, almost bought a new set before I even started! Everything came apart and went back together perfectly.

Maybe because it's only got 29,000 miles on her and has been garaged?

BTW... LOVING the new suspension set up! I highly recommend it.

I'm with Mmmmken on this one.
I was a little worried too but it seemed to come out rather easily and mine had ~40k on it when I swapped out my springs but it was the 2nd time I had done so. My '01 MPV was a different story... it had ~93k on it when I attmepted to remove them. I had already bought the endlinks b/c that was part of the reason I was replacing struts due to worn end link on drivers side front. Swapped out Tokico blues on it and it rides very nicely now. So my Dremel vs. EndLink, Dremel wins. Guess which end link was bad?!
