And then I fell in love...

Hey guys. My name is Peter. I currently drive a 2000 Honda Accord LX 5 Speed. For the past few weeks I've been scouring around these forums seeing what the MS3 community is like and it seems great. That aside, I was in the market for a new car. I was modding the hell out of my Honda and that thing still couldn't move. After x thousands of dollars in mistakes (or learning progression just to make myself feel better) I realized I wasted my time and money with Honda. Their cars are great for going to A-to-Z but it won't fly. Anyways, I first went looking for an SRT-4 Neon, then SRT-4 Caliber. I was dead set on the SRT-4 Neon but then read up on the Caliber SRT-4. When I went to do reviews, almost every review I read said that the MS3 was faster, better, and possibly cheaper in price.

So like a good little boy I did my homework and fell in love with the MS3. I was knocking the MS3 so much when I was a Honda-head, but now I love it. More torque than the SRT-4 Dodge and SRT-4 Caliber. And let's not even play with the comparison to the Honda.

Anyway, so I went down to Potamkin Mazda in Miami, FL (where I am located) and I got a quote of about 21,xxx for a Sport and 24,xxx for a GT (before tax and fees).

I cannot wait to go and grab mine. Problem is I have to wait to find a buyer for my Honda Accord. So, until that time comes, my reach is for the MS3 and I'm going to be hanging until I can post saying "JUST GOT MY MS3!!!"

Haha. Thanks for your time, and I hope to enjoy my stay.

My dealer is also Potamkin. Those quotes are for an 08 right?

I think they were 07s since they had two left. But the guy was telling me "if you want one in Blue you need to wait for the 09's which are coming in April."

Of course the guy I spoke to was the biggest dick so I don't know how accurate he was. When I came home, my girlfriend asked what happened and I told her. She called a friend who knows Alan Potamkin, the next day I got an apology phonecall from their GM Joe Prieto, who after that conversation, I think is a stand-up guy. Just don't deal with this short bald chubby guy.

Lol I have bought 3 mazdas from them I only deal with the top dogs... Anyway, There should not be an 09 at all. Their have only been 2 consecutive years of speed production. I'm sure you can bring them down a little more for a GT 07. I walked out for 25 flat for my GT and I bought the first one to hit Miami, Fl hence the floor model.

I was looking more towards the Sport only because I'm 21 and the insurance is ehhhhh. So, the Sport was 100-200 cheaper in insurance for me.

Either way, I MIGHT have to wait for the 08s because I still have to sell the Accord POS. Not a bad car, but not my thing anymore. I've matured from Honda.

the fact that they only had 2 left doesn't necessarily mean that it's 07. the dealership may only have gotten a few of them in the first place. if that is the case, it will be harder to get them to give you a good deal. i honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were down to only 2x 08's, since most dealerships only get a very small number (if ANY) of the MS3's...=/

I'm fairly sure it was an 07. Either way, their Sport edition had a fawked up shifter. Like, it wouldn't shift, it was flimsy...so there's no way I'm buying a BLACK MS3 sport from them. And their GT edition was in the showroom so no test drive that day. :Sad face:

oh, and as far as hondas go...they make excellent cars that mod VERY well. as mentioned in another thread here, stock accord v6's can do 1/4 miles in 14.5sec and rsx's + civics do REALLY well with turbochargers! as much as we want to think that we have the best car here, we'd be blind not to acknowledge the good work that honda has done with its cars and the healthy gains that can be had with aftermarket modding.

the shifter is actually a very common complaint about our car. the shift gates are close together (easy to miss shifts if you're not used to it/shifter isn't broken in), the throw is enormous, and shifts feel rather squishy because of the rubber bushing supports that the car comes with. these all can be fixed with a $250 TWM short shifter + replacement bushings, though. in fact, all you REALLY need to get a good feel from your shifter is to simply replace the bushings with aluminum TWM bushings for $35. it's rather crappy that they had all this annoyance for something as simple as that, but nothing is perfect...;o

250, wow again I must say I was waiting for this item considering every one and their mother assured me that it would be an inexpensive product that would be reliable and a good buy. But then the 250 came out and damn what a drag....

Yeah, it may be $250 but I would think it's DAMN worth not missing the stupid #@*(&@()*$&@(* 3rd gear most of the time when i power shift.

I'll be saving for that mod after the gauge pods.

ya, nice things don't come cheap...^_^; with that said, the TWM bushings are all you really need ($35) to get rid of the squishiness and vagueness of the shifter...which is the main issue.

yeah Honda is great but costs money to build. My four banger accord just dont cut it for me. so for the best bang for the buck I'd go with ms3. I hope I can sell my car fast.

I don't think you have to tell me about things for this car not being cheap. I just wasn't expecting it to be so much considering the MS6 SS is almost a hundred dollars less.

If I remember correctly, the STS for the MS3 is a bit more expensive due to our shifter having the reverse lockout having to be built into the new shifter. But I could be wrong. Either way, I love my STS! BOOOYAH!

Back to the guy with the accord, if you don't owe any money on your Accord, just trade it in, and try to get a good deal? Or do you still owe some green backs on it?

not only do i owe some money on this car still, but i also had work done on this car that would greatly depreciate the value in a dealership trade in. and i know, all this is on me. i had the car automatic and then i swapped the transmission to 5-speed thinking i was going to keep the car for a good 5-10 years. i did all the N/A bolt ons, the flywheel and clutch upgrade, suspension, basically i've bolted on all the necessary stuff. so, i need to find a buyer who appreciates it and understands Honda modding...or a complete ricer who is going to be awed by brand name appeal of aftermarket parts.
