And the Build Begins!!

Many will say almost the complete opposite of what you are saying! I mean really, piston rings need to seat within the first 50-100miles.
I be one of those. This the way id do it, Install engine, turn on and let warm up, check for leaks and all that then turn off engine, take that beeatch to the shop and tune it.

Your not the only one who tthinks like ths....Local shop here builds a LOT of motors....And has done quite a bit of research....Newer engines and materials act differently that the ones of old.
Break in procedures will vary...But for the most part...its all about preference.

When I build my engines- I drop the pistons in with some wd-40 and leave it at that. On intial start-up you need for these low tension rings to seat. You almost hear it happen. The cranking cadence changes as the engine builds compression and then you are in. As Maxx has stated. Glazing does happen with syntetic oil. It sucks and the oil remedy is a rehone. I've always been a firm believer in getting out there and driving the car as normal. Vary rpm and loading as much as possible. Long decels are great as well.

i love getting hijacked lol....

Not working on the car today. Guy i'm working on it with his wife is sick...So Weds will be the day. S.O.B another delay.

sub'n for awesomeness

I love FS builds
bad engines when stock, but sure as hell fun to work on hehehe
(and quite fun when not stock =P)

the motors are fine stock with a couple boltons...

Looks like I'll be working on the car Wed and Sat this week. Should have it up and running Sat if there are no more delays.

that is sweet looking man! (sweet lou...) did you do the manni and down pipe? look great!

I bought the mani/dp and turbo as a whole and came powdercoated. I have a buddy that does all my powdercoating. Very few pieces of metal in this thing that arent going to be coated. My fuel rail is going to be the same color as the valve cover.

Show and Go :)

nice!(cool) so there'll be some real competition at some local shows this season???

Well i got some Exterior things to do. 2 rims are little scuffed and the car has a couple of scratches from sitting for a year in Sweetlous driveway. Once that stuff is taken care of it will deff be in some car shows.

you wouldn't believe the crap we've seen at some of the local shows...you need to join us anyway.....we have a good time hanging out and talking cars, frying in the sun and watching the ah....sights!!(cool) hey we even win a trophy or two!!!

i swear if i have anymore delays on this car i'm going to go nuts. I was missing one little bearing that slips in the middle of the flywheel. That has been orderd so i should have everything in the car on wednesday and the car should be running by sat.

Motor and tranny are in the car, hooked up the linkage / blead the clutch. Finally coming together. Hopefully starting her up on Sat, i kinda doubt it though. Should be driving the car next week though. Cant wait!
