Amp?

I guess I'm going to look tomorrow into the price of MRV-T420-2 for the sub or the MRD-M300 Mono and a MVR-F340-4 for the four speakers.

Now I just need to know what Alpine or Infinity Sub I should go for?

:) Thanks guys this a great way for people like me with limited knowledge of this subject to be able to walk into the store and don't be fool but what the sale's guy is trying to make me buy :)

The infinity Perfects are a nice sub, but I've heard nothing but good reviews about the new Alpine subs.

Yes, as they only have 3 and only 1 of them has the power handling to take to juice from those amps,
The Type R. Big red R will be in the middle of the sub.

This is one example of why I like to come to this forum before doing my car audio shopping.

I made some phone calls to check on the Alpine amps and one of the sales man told me that forget Alpine the way to go was "AudioBahn" he said that Audiobahn has way better amps than alpine, so now I'm all confuse I never heard of that brand before.

what do you guys think?

Audiobahn is a reputable amp but nothing of theres has proven an SQ amp like alpine has. They are more to the DB side of things but if you want to consider them and there isn't really a reason you shouldn't just go stat to stat. Try to find some reviews too.
Carsound.com seems to be the most unbiased and to the facts site out there.

One thing you may want to be aware of is that there is a challenge out there that will give anyone $10,000 if they can accuratly tell the difference 1 amp compared to another that are both tested to the same power. No one has been able to do it yet.

Again to be fair I don't know who has tried or what the nitty gritty of that test it.

The reason I say alpine is the Crossovers are great the power is decent and the sound quality is top notch and they tend to be more adjustable then many other amps adn often more visualy pleasing.

Never buy anything RF, garbage!

1st MP3 in NH I just walked into a store to check amps and this sales guy start to give me this speech in how Rockford Fosgate is the number one amp manufactures on America, he went on saying that they put every single amp by hand and every individual amp is check for their performance before living the factory ect.

I just wanted to let you know how confusing can be for a guy that doesn't have extent knowledge in car audio like me. :(

RF does still do that, and, if I"m not mistaken you get a slip stating what the actual output of your amp is. However, Alpine does the same thing as do alot of other companies. RF does alot of research in their products but they were recent bought by another company I think so things have changed.

Wich of these two 4 channel amps should I go for to power my infinity speaker?

If you can, do the F340 as it is the higher series amp, offers more real power and alot of good sound quality otions like subsonic filter and adjustable crossovers.

As for RF they may test all their amps but if you would like me to check the content of my crap then put it in a box and send it to you I will but its still crap!

Its mostly a personal hatred, ignore it if you like however the salesmen is right tht RF is one of the most popular amps, You know what other amp ranks close to it for popularity?
SONY!!!!!
Numbers sold means nothing, buy quality.

The power series stuff is ok but the lower amps are just terrible. Every 4 channel I have heard over the last year has had noise, and high pitched hiss or ringing.

Thanks again 1st MP3 in NH, I'm definably going with an Alpine amp :)

I will buy first a 4 channel to power my 4 speakers and then the mono with the subwoofer.

I'm asking you again because differences reasons, one is that I know they have the MRP-F240 on stock right now because is a new model so I could buy it as soon as tomorrow, but the MRV-F340 have to be order for me witch it could take a little while but I'm ok to wait if there is a difference on quality.

The other thing is that MRP-F240 is from V-Power Series Amplifier, this means is better?

The last reason is the differences on price. but none of this reasons will matter to me if there is quality difference between the two.

1st MP3 in NH, before you answer me take under consideration that a loud amps is not important for me, Quality is what I'm after here, to be honest I can't put the volume too high on my CDA-9815 because is to loud for me, or maybe could be because doesn't sound good enough without a amp or a little of the two. :)

The MRV-F340 is the better amplifier.
It has:
15 watts more a channel
A adjustable crossover
A cleaner crossover network
A subsonic filter
The digital control center that displays, voltage, amperage, amp temperature and any protection warnings.

THe MRV-F340 is the far superior amplifier, not jst the louder, buy it!

thanks one more time 1st MP3 in NH :)

I got the MRV-F340 and it sound amazing :)

I think I may don't even need a mono amp and a subwoofer because the back speakers now are giving me alot of bass :)
