Amp/Sub Problem HELP

i hooked up an amp and 2 subs to my 2001 protege es and the subs just play like normal speakers i.e. normal bass. The amp has a switch for bass,flat, and treble and its on bass. I dont know whats wrong i could use some help.

it could be a number of things what kind/brand of amp do u have and what kind of subs

the amp is 200 watts and is a roadmaster brand and the subs are 200 watts idk the brand but here is a link to the exact same thing Subwoofers

as people said, need more details.
My friend has same problem......subs were playing great for past 3-4 years and about 3 weeks ago the just stopped playing base and act as regular speakers now only at a really low volume (hardly can hear). Could be amp, could be cross-over (thats if you hooked up the amp through the rear speakers and not through the headunit. Might be few more problems, but I cant really tell you as Im not an expert in this field.

i wish i could see the amp but -

If it is a band pass switch - just like you think bass= mo' bass. If it is a cut filter - 'bass='no bass'

Have you switched to 'flat'? Any difference?

ALSO, try reversing ONE of the bass speaker wires (Pos and Neg). If they are out of phase they will cancel each other out.

Last theory - are they hooked up in seroes or parallel? Series makes it harder for the signal to get through (higher impedance), parallel wiring may make it too easy (too low impedance i.e. <2ohm amp in 'mono mode' ) which may smoke the amp..

well look at your amp, its prolly fried or something, open up the amp and look at all of the green board. and smell it, if it smells burnt it is fried, if you see any burnt spots on it, it is definatly fried. those speakers wouldnt produce much bass anyways with the right amp.. but i really think its your amp.. and about the whole series and parallel, i doubt very highly those speakers are DVC so its prolly 4ohm on each channel anyways i mean i know you can get the load up to 8 ohms and down to 2 but that is highly unlikely that you did that.. you didnt bridge the channels right?, a cheap system but good system that would be reliable,
1 two kicker CVR 12's ebay (bout 150 for the pair)
2 box from ebay, 1.2 cuft per chamber(about 50),
3. some polyfil from walmart to stuff in the box,
4. audiobahn 8002t amp (can get 1 on ebay for $120)
5. then some knukonceptz wires ($20) on ebay
$340 not bad for a budget system and it will make tons of bass. i used to have this setup, but i recently got two 12" adire audio shivas, so all thats sitting in my garage..

i dont think the amp is burnt cuz its brand new, could it be the subs are not getting enough power? could it be that the subs just suck? (i got them from free from my neighbor) thanx
