That thinks the RX8 SUCKS?

- its ugly (without full bodykit)
- hate the hammerheard looking front end
- stubby rear end
- saturn style doors
- no turbo
- 238hp engine for almost 30k


the car doesnt impress me at all. i guess a lot of peopl ehere love it because they love mazdas. to me thats like political party affiliations. i am not affiliated because if i like a democrat im not going to vote rep just because thats the ticket im on.

anyways, sorry for the rant, just curious if i was the only one out there. IMO, if i had 30+k to blow (dont give me this after rebates etc, because all cars have that, im talking base price), it sure as s*** wouldnt be on that underpowered, small, shark looking thing. hell, IIRC the evo isnt much more if at all (when you get base model), correct?

I like the styling for the most part(not the euro style taillights), but I agree with you on everything else, especially the price/power part.

i saw one with an unpainted bodykit, and it had serious potential. but when im spending 30k or so i better get : POWER, and some sort of elaborate styling. i shouldnt have to shell out several thousand more to make the car look halfway decent.

so mazda is underrating these things now? i read on mazdas site says 238hp for the 6spd and 197hp for the auto. thats a far cry from 230+ WHP. and i disagree about the rotary and everything to love. i owned a TURBO FC and that thing was the biggest money pit (yes even bigger than my p5) and biggest headache i have ever owned. i loved the car, but it was nothing but problems, and it had only 70 some thousand miles. plus rotarys are KNOWN to suck at emissions. etc etc. im not impressed.

Dont get me wrong, Ill never buy a Mazda again, unless its a 2nd or 3rd gen REX-7, but it is a well rounded car for what you pay.

I hate teh RX-8. I make snotty remarks about them all the time. In one thread I tried to argue that the EVo was not only in the same price range, but was geared toward the same kind if consumer. No one agreed...

The dyno for an RX-8 is hilarious and I've raced them on the street. They are door to door with me till 2nd, then put about 2 cars on me by 3rd. I can't help but giggle, this $197 a month car payment is keeping up just fine for their $500 one...

the rx8 put down roughly 160whp(around that), very overated hp wise...but the 6spd is still not THAT slow but it could be faster for sure...

ive been in one when i lived in oklahoma...i knew a saleman that owned one from the dealer i bought my car at. needless to say, i was not impressed. but in the same price range i was in an Evo, a STi, 350z, and G35 and the RX8 was like a protege compared to all of those cars.

I don't think it sucks, but Mazda sure could've sold more of them if they'd given it enough power to keep up with pretty much anything else in it's class.

From what I've read, they seem to be really well balanced/ easy to drive fast.

mazda couldn't give it too much hp, its a 1.3 rotary NON turbo for god sakes....if they tuned it for more hp guess what, it won't last very long anymore!...i guess i just don't like the idea of a non-turbo rotary
