it had 14,500 when i got it from my dad, now it has about 17,500. I'm a kinda person who is floorin it more than i should and i like to put the stock mp3 to its limits like flying around corners and givin the tranny a lot to do. I've noticed the idle rpm fluctuate a lot, it doesnt just hold steady at like 750rpm for example. it would be between 700-800rpm. the radiator fan comes on a lot when im not moving and i just think im hurting the car. Anyone with notes on idle RPM and the fan issue?

The idle fluctuates for me too. The cooling fan comes on when the coolant temp reaches 207 degrees F. I verified this with my PDA Dyno. Nothing to worry about too much, since the temp goes up fast when standing still. One thing I also found out is that when you turn on your heater, the fan goes off faster because the coolant temp drops really fast.

the protege, regardless of what model, was make to be ragged out! Check consumer reports the year that they changed the body style.

You be fine! Just dont run off the road and hit a tree while you are tearing through the streets!

What's a compression test all about?

You basically remove one spark plug at a time, and...wait, I posted the info somewhere before...let me find it.
