alt belt broke, need advice

The alternator belt broke on my '03 P5. I don't have a repair manual for the car. I need advice on a good manual. When the belt broke on me, the remnants of the old belt wrapped around one of the pulleys. There's a wire loom that goes by the pulleys down there and as the debris spun on the pulley it ate through the loom and dug into the wires in it. How hard was it to change the belt and what are those wires? A step by step would be greatly appreciated if anyone's got one. If not, I'll take anything I can get. Cheers.

The belts on our cars are simple to replace. Where do the wires lead to? More information on the wires are the only way we can help you. I'm not 100% on this, but I think there's an article in the hot to section on replacing our belts.

I got into the car a little bit today before it started raining on me. The wires down by the pulley were the power wires for the block heater that was installed when I was stationed in Alaska. Only 20% chance for rain tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get her done. Thanks everybody.
