Alright ... I am new to this ...
So I just bought a MS Protege - the oh-so-beautiful Orange! I'm pumped, but now the question of what the hell can I do with this little puppy comes into play. It's my first car ... for reasons not worth explaining, and I am looking for some advice on how to make this car absolutly SICK!

Determine budget. Read posts. Buy. Install. Drive.
Pretty much sums it up right there. Depending on how much of the warranty is left (and if you want to keep it mostly intact) concentrate mostly on cosmetic mods and possibly some stereo work too. I am very paranoid about keeping my warranty on the engine mostly, so I have only done minor mods so far such as B&M shifter with new bushings, Tein Springs (I know it voids the suspension warranty but I don't mind that), and Forge BOV. I am trying to get either carbon hood + grill this summer or race seats, not sure which yet but again this follows the keeping my warranty safe pattern.
On the other hand if you want to start speed mods right away go get a Electronic Boost Controller if you can afford it or if not a good Manual Boost Controller and set boost accordingly. If the car is flashed it has been said that boost should not go to far over 9.5 or so pounds, but there are people who run all kinds of boost on flashed/unflashed motors. Then you can get intake/exhaust/dp which will open things up a good bit and sound good as well. The only real lacking product right now to make our cars fast and safe is piggyback/standalone. Corksport has a unit which is not too expensive (around 875) and is plug and play, raises the boost I believe to 10psi and is supposed to be safe. I have also heard about products like the AEM PnP and the MPI Tuner, both of which I am not sure of the progress or if they are even available. Sorry this was so long but congrats and have fun.

p.s. Don't wreck your car! We have been losing way too many MSP's lately.(hand)

welcome to a fellow Torontonian! Nice choice in car!
Search here and absorb what you can.
Also check out www.toprotege.com. The Toronto Protege Club for info and meets.

hey thanks

Hey Mike!

Thanks a lot - you have no idea how much help a little info is! Don't worry about me wrecking the car LOL - it won't happen ... good drivers don't do such a thing!
Anyway I just wanted to say thanks, in the end I am going to have to convert everything into lamen terms, but at least I'm learning! :) Take it easy!

Yeah if you are new I agree with "Heathen" read alot of the threads about various things you are thinking of doing then check see if you have the budget for it...

Yep and check the noobie threads inthe MSP section they are pretty beneficial, welcome aboard.

Read the aftermarket guide stickied at the top, or search for Mod lists or mod suggestions.

Theres plenty to read on the forum about whats available before asking what 9000000043423 people have asked before you.

Not being a dick, just letting you know this forum is packed with info to dig through.
Thanks

No problem. Hope to see you around sometime.
Let me know if you need any help.

Thanks guys ... SLOWLY gettin' used to this place! There is sooo much to read, I hardly know where to begin! Whatever ... I pick up my baby tomorrow - super excited as I'm sure you can imagine! Anyway - just wanted to shout out thanks! Later

I agree with the take your time and read philosphy. I did. All I have is an intake at this point.

My best advice is to plan out where you want to be.
Like Bahamsan said, determine your budget... it will help you decide where you CAN be.

Good luck.
