Alpine CDA-9833 CD Stuck...

Was listening to a CD last night then switched to AM for the Brewer game. This morning I switched back to CD to get no audio. It said "Track 28 -1:38". So I was going to eject it and put it back in. However, the face flips down and nothing comes out. No noise or anything.

Is there anything I can do? An emergency release of some sort? Or is it time for a new head unit? It *is* about 4 years old I guess...

I install car electronics professionally (MECP Certified) and I would say try resetting the stereo... pull the face off and insert a pen into the little hole near the bottom middle of the radio for about 5 secs. If that doesn't work you can send it out for repair or just buy a new one... I'd say it's just about the only thing that ever fails on an alpine (the eject mechanism).

Yep, 2nd that advice. Same as I was going to give until I read this. Do a reset, if it still doesn't work, send it for repair or just get a new one. If you need that CD back, just pop the top of the unit off and you should be able to remove it, possibly breaking a few things, but who cares at that point. Will probably cost like $100 to fix, so probably just get a new one, if it comes to that.

Hah, thanks for the reply all. Reset worked! I was just getting over my anger too and into excitement for a 9886. Oh well.

double dog dare you to switch it back to AM... might get that 9886 afterall? then sell me your 9833 for like next to nothing so I can fix it? :)

By the way, Milwaukeeans - Not sure where you are located (I am from Greenfield, actually ecniemann). But I live very close to Brady St. on the east side and the Jimmy John's delivery driver there uses a debadged blue MP3!

If you ever see a true red MS3 parked on Prospect between Knapp and Ogden, that is me. My friend lives on Knapp and that is always where I park. I figure I am safer on a busy road. He got his Bonneville stolen like 4 times down there on the East side. Those cocksuckers even stole stuff like a football, tennis rackets, his car jack, etc. that was in his trunk. Savages out there I tell ya!

WOW! I saw the OP was WI, but just noticed you were too. Cool! WI representin!
Where do you work? Do you do car audio?

Sure do... work at American TV Oak Creek. Stop in if you need something, I've been doing car electronics for over 5 years now and am a MECP certified installer. Alarm, nav, dsr, amps, subs, speakers, you name it! I run the show there.

My brother got his Integra stolen a couple years ago from the parking lot at Circuit City in Greenfield... those theives are everywhere! Police actually recovered it downtown with everything aftermarket stripped out... plus all his seats were stolen too!(shrug)

I got a red P5 with the Mazdaspeed axle-back, slightly lowered... It's my daily driver, so nothing too crazy... I actually live just outside Milwaukee Co.

That's crazy. I never hear of actual vehicle theft down here. Usually just smash and grabs. Perhaps Bonnevilles are easy to steal. I've only had my stereo stolen once... in Greenfield ;). Regardless, I love living down here... especially in the summer. Walking everywhere with these gas prices FTW!

Great! 2 people with cars or stereos stolen in Greenfield. I guess I won't be leaving my car out at night anytime soon.

Yeah, I think it was a 1992 Bonneville and they were easy to steal. They basically stole it to strip it of aftermarket stereo, amps, speakers, and other items I mentioned. The last time it was stolen, they completely stripped it. I mean wheels, alternator, battery, any usable part, so it was totaled. So what does he get to replace it? A Honda Accord, only the most stolen car in America. To date, no problems though.
