Well I finally finished my contract with the US Marines Reserves. I thought I would be excited but as is turns out I feel kinda empty, sort of like I am betraying my fellow Marines. My wife is happy and my kids are thrilled. I guess I will see how I feel in a few months.

ur not betraying anyone, u still have to look after ur family. thank u and ur family for all they have given to this country.

You can always reenlist later on down the road. I've seen a few of my friends EAS from active duty, only to return a few months to a year later. Or they're doing really great with a Sheriff's Department or the state highway patrol. Once a Marine, Always a Marine.

it was about a year or so until i didnt miss it as much, if i could do it again i woulda stayed in.

Thank you for what you have done. All those in the military should always receive proper respect and honor :)

Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed my time with the Marines. Well most of it anyway. It is nice to see people still appreciate one's service to the country. Here in Massachusetts there are alot of haters, particularly in the Northampton area, near to where I work. So thanks again and have a great Christmas. We are expecting 12-14 inches of snow today. I guess it is going to be a white Christmas this year.

i got 1 year and 5 months before my 6 year USMC contract is up.The earlier years in the marines were fun. Iraq was a great experience. Now back at the unit its a lot of BS and im counting my days.

There are no ex marines. Only former marines.

Well put.

Don't mistake people's disdain for GW as a lack of support for the troops.
Anyone givin u a hard time is an ignorant A-hole.

Those haters you are talking about are the brainwashing job of the drive by media. The media shows them only bad stuff and never the good that being done by ya'll. They'll be the first ones crying that there wasn't enough done if anything else happens.
Thank you for your service to our country. You did a great job be proud.

That was exactly how I felt after Iraq. But in retrospect, what we did at the unit before we deployed was the same thing we did when we returned. So I guess that training and the "fun" was what made our Iraq experience so great!? Keep charging.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. I don't think I have plans for the 29th. Might bring the kids and have a nice meal. I guess it ultimately depends on the weather, time, and place.
