alarms and such.

Wasn't sure which forum to post this under so I picked this one because it pertains to the car I am getting. The more and more I think about it and read about it....it is a risky proposition owning a nice car now. I had my rims and tires stolen off of my stock 98 Z24. I was just wondering what kind of security / alarm measures I should take when I get the new MS protege?

1) What are the best alarms? I would want one with a kill switch/immobilizer and sensitivity settings.

2) Other than taking the face off of the stereo what else should i do to prevent theft of my stereo?

3) Should I somehow screw down the amp and sub?

4) What measures can I take to prevent the rims and tires being stolen other than lock-nuts?

5) Any other security tips would be appreciated. The more I think about it the more paranoid I am getting. If people steal Z24 junk , what are they going to do to my Orange Baby?

easy champ....most ppl (such as myself) didnt reply because we had nothing worthwhile to say.......but if you insist.....

theres nothing else you can do to protect your wheels other than wheel locks. Is that the answer you wanted to hear? Try putting 5 diff wheel locks on each wheel.

MS head unit comes with the kenwood excelon head unit so the face flips around automatically, dont need to remove it.

MS comes with a antitheft perimeter alarm system, other than that, have your dealer install lo-jack......

mount your amp to the car not the box, screw it into wherever you mount it.....screw the box into the car, and line the back edges of the box with razor blades.

What is going on? No-one can help me. These are pretty simple questions that only require simple answers.

Dude. You're angry that nobody posted within 3 hours of you posting? Most people probably don't read this board 24/7. For example, I just got up and maybe check the board a couple times a day. So here's a simple answer. Give it a couple of days before complaining that nobody will help you.

Sorry about that guys.I had just noticed that there were 10+ views but no responses. I was just wondering why if you were going to view it...why not help me out with a response. I didn't mean to come off as a big asshole...but it seems that is the case. So I apologize. I was just hoping that some of you guys could share some of the things you have tried in an attempt to thwart theives trying to steal your s***. You guys have the stereo and the rims and the car that a lot of thugs and dicks would like to steal. So I thought you guys could help me from previous experience.

Anyways...my bad and hope you guys will still lend a helping hand.

Always glad to help. I'm just saying that you might want to be a bit more patient.

Anyways, in reference to the Kenwood head unit, not only does it flip around, I believe the faceplate is removable as well.

A couple answers to help you out

Clifford makes really good alarms w/starter & ignition kill, prox sensor, impact/vibration, and carjack protection. Do the install yourself and incorporate a fake ground and power wire and that's about everything you can do.

As far as the amp and sub, once you screw them into your trunk, use a drill to strip out the head.

There's really no way to completely protect your vehicle, the only thing you want to accomplish is trying to make it more annoying to steal than the other guy's.

it sounds to me like you KNOW what you need to do....the choices you made in your original post are the things you SHOULD DO....but the very bottom line is....if a theif wants your stuff....he will take it. all you can do is do the things you mentioned....and then be very careful about where you park your ride.

another thing.....there are many people here that are trying to LEARN...and they do that not only by asking quesitons, but also by reading every post on every subject that they can....that is why you may see a lot of posts that are viewed and they didn't answer....for they don't have your answer.....but they were checking just in case.....OR they were looking to see what someone else said and maybe that would help THEM.
