Im wondering if anybody has any recomendations for an alarm system for a protege. preferably under $300. I dont wanna put a bunch of mods and s*** only to have it stolen... plz also explain how they work. I know there are glass shatter sensors, movement sensors. does anybody know of any sensors that make the alarm go off if someone gets in the drivers seat when armed? lemme know what else is out there.

Also, has anybody figured out a way for a gas cut-off switch? I know sometimes they are just as effective (and usually cheaper) than alarm systems.

I would PM SwirlFX. He's got a nice Clifford (i think) system in his MSP and could point you in the right direction. Tell him I sent ya.

I second SwirlFX. Fuel cut-off switches are surprisingly easy to wire up. I'm not 100% sure on how easy it is with a Protege, but I've done it several times with RX-7's.

Im not in a huge hurry to buy... I havent invested that much in my car. $300 is not an absolute budget.. I could spend like $800, but that sounds ridiculous for an alarm. Ive seen them at Frys for 4-$500. I dont think I need anything too fancy though. Not likely for someone to steal a car outta a high school parking lot....
I'll get pics of my car up as soon as i get rims and the spoiler on.
