Alarm Sound when Replacing Stereo

Zapco ST-5B

I tried removing the fuse, disconnecting the battery, reset the unit, multiple different combinations of starting up the car in different positions (ACC, ON, START), tried a voltage reducer, tried a different supply to the amp trigger, rewired bits of the harness (my nice AERPRO harness now looks like a frankenstein mess). All the audio techs I had look at it found it very interesting lol, but none could help. A couple suggested trying a different harness (before I pointed out that there are multiple forums with people having the same issue with other harnesses). It was actually my idea to replace the amp, and a few of the techs were doubtful it would work, so it was a gamble spending that much, but I'm very glad I did.
Zapco makes outstanding equipment. You chose well.

I FIXED this problem.

I recently was installing an Alpine ILX-507 and Maestro RR device to retain the Bose and the steering wheels controls. The Maestro is a CAN bus <> iDataLink converter that talks to the car and to the radio translating the messages.

When connecting the battery after wiring up all the devices, the amplifier would beep (1 sec on, 1 sec off) loudly. Putting on ON vs. ACC didn't solve that.
Then, I flashed the Maestro RR module to v.1.1 as opposed to the latest 1.6 version, and as a result the system operated correctly.
When I plugged it in and connected the battery, the car did beep 4 times on ACC but that was it. Now it works fine.

Thanks to the Crutchfield tech who suggested trying older versions of the Maestro firmware.

Wow interesting I ended up removing everything but your post makes want to retry.

So you just flashed an old firmware? Mind explaining please

ROCK ON!! HELL YEAH!

Crutchfield is amazing. Glad you got the correct advice.

You have to flash the Maestro using the Maestro desktop app to configure your RR... when you get to the last screen, where it says "Maestro firmware version ..." , there is a little blue link "other options / versions" ... click that, it will expand the older versions available. I picked the oldest one... not sure which one is the most recent that works, only tried 1.0 and 1.1 and both worked. By the way, my CX-9 is a late 2013 but probably it's the same issue.

I have a Maestro RR in both my MZ5 and my CX-5. I can't recommend one highly enough.

I use a Kenwood Excelon DDX-8706S in both cars.

BTW I got this email from the Maestro development team "Hi Giovanni, we are aware of this issue at the moment and working on it, if you'd like to call in we have a beta firmware we can send you to try" so that's another option to try.

Will try some weekend reinstalling everything and flashing the older firmware. Just wondering if there are any other issues present since its a very old version.

SOLUTION (I came to this problem twice, so now I am posting this to also remember if it hapens to me again):
My system: Maestro RR + JVC stereo KW-M785 (the radio is not relevant)

(1) Firmware of Maestro HAS to be an old one (1.1) instead of the new ones (1.8 or 1.10). New ones do not work!
(2) When installed, or whenever the battery goes off (now and in the future), you have to directly start the engine witout going through ACC. Wait for some beeps (say about 8). Then turn off the vehicle. Then go to ACC, you will hear still about three beeps, but after those it will be ready. Then you can schut off and start without any issue.

Hope it helps (it took me much time to figure out all this, because when you hear the loud beeps your temptation is to think it does not work and to shut off before the CANBUS and the Maestro understand each other).

That what solved to me first by Crutchfield and then by Weblink assistance.

Enjoy!

Another hint here, for people grappling with this issue.

I recently brought the car to service, and they disconnected the battery. For some reason the Maestro RR module got messed up because of that, so when I reconnected it, it beeped, and none of the ACC/ON etc. tricks worked.

What did end up working at the end was resetting the Maestro from the iDatalink menu on the radio (go into iDataLink settings, Maestro Module, Module Reset). When I did that, the beeping stopped immediately.

Hi, I had same problem on my CX-9 with Chinese android radio. It seems that canbus RP5-MZ-002 is not working properly, so I tried to connect MZ-SS-07A and it works. Canbus factory setting in radio must be set to Mazda3. All steering wheel buttons works properly, but I still dont know how to connect oem parking camera.

Hi everyone, I know it’s been a while on this initial post, but I’m having the same issue and if someone could help me I would literally be so grateful. I feel like I’ve been trouble shooting all the things. And it doesn’t matter what I do I can’t fix it.
The stereo is an Asian one- specifically made for a Mazda cx9 (supposedly) the Sam one exists on Ali express, eBay, Amazon, my car is 2015 cx9 with the Bose amp and speakers. it is correctly wired. I have an aero pro harness connected to retain the factory camera. When the stereo is installed, there is sound comming from the stereo when the car is in acc. And the stereo is fully functional. When the car is turned to ON,START (running) I get the beeping alarm. Unfortunately after all of the troubleshooting, i have to put the old stereo back in because while the alarm is alarming the car isn’t functional. I’ve researched the hell out of this issue and I’ll list the different ways I’ve tried to get the alarm to stop.

1.)reset the player to factory and before it turns back on , disconnect the battery for 30 minutes, immediately switch the car on (running) still beeping.

2.) reset player to factory before it turns back on , disconnect the battery for 45 minutes, immediately switch the car to running, let the car beep for 10-20 times, switch to on, let the car beep 5-10 times. (Someone said this would resolve it. It did not)

3. Reboot the player and before it turns back on disconnect the battery for 30-45 mins. Turn the car to start. Still beeping.

4.) reboot the player and before it turns back on disconnect the battery. Turn the car onto start. Let it beep for 10ish times. Still beeping.

Will a new, more expensive head unit just do the exact same thing?
Is the only way around this to completely replace the Bose amp, which is under the 3rd row seats and almost impossible for me to do?
Is there a wiring harness that I could buy that would somehow bypass this issue?
Is there some small thing I’m doing wrong when I’m trying to get the car to communicate with the new head unit? If so please correct me.

Thanks heaps. I’m so freaking frustrated. Not being able to upgrade the head unit makes the car a lot crappier than it should be.
