Air Conditioning

Hi,
So this is my first thread and I am in the market for buying a Mazda3 i Sport. I went to the dealer and they had these seemingly great deals on new 2007 models for $10995. Apparently the reason these deals are so good is that they don't include air conditioning (PS - I live in Florida). This will be the first time I buy a car on my own (college student) and I really like the car and the price, but I need to find out something before I buy: is it possible to install AC later and about how much would it cost to get done?

Simply amazing. I didn't know it was possible to get a car today without air, but I double checked and indeed the iSport is available that way. I don't live in Florida, but have visited there a few times in August and I think you would be crazy to consider no A/C there, but I understand trying to pinch the budget.

Installing AC later will be a major pain, and not cheap. It is possible, but a big project. You might be able to find the parts in a scrappie when you get around to it, which could bring the price down. You could also try to fit an aftermarket unit, but my opinion is that it will be very difficult because the 3 is a small car and getting anything but the OEM to fit may near impossible.

My advice, for what it is worth, is to get a used car with AC for now, and when you are more able to afford it (after graduation?) get the car you really want.

My $.02 from an old f*rt.

My gosh~!
No A/C in FL? I'd die. (shocked)
Last time I went down to Orlando, I almost passed out from the heat/ humidity.

I had a 05 mazda with no AC.. I looked into putting it in, and the mazda dealership would not put it in. I could not find a AC kit for it, but I finally did find one place(in canada) that would do it, quoted me $2300 plus tax. Trust me its probably just worth waiting, I lucked out and totaled my mazda and my insurance gave me more than i bought it for,and now I am buying an mazda 3 GT loaded to the nuts.
