Aggressive fitment!

Tirerack posts on every wheel for a 2008 MSP3: Aggressive fitment! This will require rear fender lip roll for proper clearance. The wheel I am considering is:

Offset: 45mm
Backspacing: 6.25"
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:225/40-18

Will I really need to get a rear fender lip roll to accomodate these rims? I see many others on this forum that run with O.Z. Alleggerita HLT with settings like:

Offset: +50mm
Backspacing: 5.94"
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:225/40-18

Did anyone really have to do a fender lip roll or is Tirerack just doing a CYA?

My 08MS is lowered and I run stock wheels 7x18 with 225/40 and not rolled. I also have run 19x8.5 with 40 offset with 225/35 the wheels are an MRR Design GT1. Neither rubs or nor have the fenders been rolled.

I'm not too familiar with back spacing other than diamond racing wheels. What's the width of the proposed wheels? I'm guessing 18 x 8. If so, any of the mentioned offsets will be fine. More details are needed for an exact estimate
