Delphi3 those installs look awesome! I would love to have that done! Are those custom kits that you're using? What issues in particular are you having?

Hollowman - It was built out of fiberglass by one of the nation's best installers. Cost about $500 and can be gotten in glossy.

Hi zotomomo;
yes it is custom fascia that was used in these installs...the install that still has the buttons on it has the trip computer etc still working, but to get it working you have to modify the factory stereo, and mount it somewhere..so i am working on an interface to do away with it.

I'm still patiently waiting for Scosche or Metra to come out with a kit... I see CX9's all the time and they have been out for a few years now, I really don't understand what the hold up is. These pictures look amazing for these installs, but 500 bucks is far too steep for me!

yeh, i waited too long for the kit to come out, and i made one myself, the whole system too me about 6 months to build, because i was lazy, anyway, there is still not dash kit out there yet. i made it from bondoglass, it my firsttime, so it's not the best but still looks ok to me.

here is what it look like

done, this is a computer running windows xp, with dvd rw drive, 120gb hd, gps and touchscreen, and backup camera with night vision; ( i am working on adding bluetooth and wifi) whole system cost me about $700 for all the parts, just take time to make everything fit, but still cheaper than the factory gps, and i can do more on my system, because it's a computer

So I talked with Colin from Metra today while at Spring Break Nationals in Daytona today. I got the same answer as the previous poster about it bieng integrated. I explained it wasn't and he asked me to send pics and possibly let them hold my radio to do what they need to do. In return I will get to "TEST" the 1ST one.

I will send him the pics tommorow and keep you guys posted on the progress as well as pics when I get it of a single din and double din installed!

UPDATE...
I recieved this email today (less than an hour of sending pics)

also included is my email with a link to the pics I sent him of the radio un installed

Thanks a bunch Rickie! I will get some parts a.s.a.p. and start the
design process. Please keep in mind that this process will take several
months and depending on upper management decisions, could take more.
I'll be in contact with you during it all.

Colin,

I hope I got your name right and am sending this to the right address.
My name is Rickie, I spoke to you at SBN on Sunday about the kit for a
Mazda CX~9. I have a link to my photo gallery just look under radio and
there are 25 pics. If you need more or a specific shot just let me know
and I can usually upload it with in an hour or so.

I have also included a link to four threads on the main Mazda forum
where people have asked for a kit. I posted that you will be working on
one soon and I will relay all conversations we have to keep them in the
loop.

If you need me to I will ship you my radio if need be to help.

The only bad thing I have learned is that if you change the radio you
can not change the time that is on the display up top. Feel free to
contact me via email or phone I recieve my emails on my phone and will
reply within an hour.

As the pictures in one of my post's,I am taking my prototype to the injection moulders next week to see how much to get some made (with and without buttons)...the only way to have the buttons working at this time is to relocate the factory unit behind rear quarter panel..

Hello folks,

I went to my dealers today because of a custom nav system they built in a new CX-9 here in Holland.

Only thing missing is the way to change time on the clock and there is no longer info on the media being played (obviously).

I'll keep you posted when I get prices, specs etc.

The used system is a pioneer avic 700. The dealer told me almost every pioneer or kenwood system should work with the steeringwheel interface used in this.
