Aftermarket dash stereo VS Steering Wheel controls

Has anyone had any luck installing an aftermarket radio and having the steering wheel controls still work, or it simply a matter of having the right wiring install kit? Thx!

Many stereos have the hookups for the steering wheel controls. I would recommend checking with a local stereo shop to find out what will work best for you. Make sure you go somewhere where the salesman knows his stuff.

I just had mine done ('08 GT) and my install guy used a PAC audio interface (Kenwood head unit) .. works great. Just a slight lag as usual with an aftermarket interface but all the steering wheel buttons work properly and it only took about 10 minutes to instinctively hit the buttons long enough to change songs or vol. etc.

Here's a link to some more info.. i don't know which interface he used in particular .. just that it's a PAC audio. i will ask him when i go out to get the sub done in a couple of weeks.
