Not sure where to post this but i want to change the stock bpv but im not sure which i want. I was thinking about putting on a cobb sri and then i read where it can make the car run lean so i dont want to do that while under warranty. My question is now which option is good for bov or bpv for some sound, i hear nothing from the stock turbo and bpv and i would like to hear something. Hopefully this hasnt been beat on too much.

If all you want is sound, just put the COBB sri on and you'll get all the sound you want, don't worry about running lean, these cars run pig rich to start so you'll be fine, it's the cheapest and best mod you can do to start.! later if you choose to change the dump valve you can always do the Turbosmart 50/50 that way you can go back and forth till you are settled on one way or the other.

I'm not sure what source your getting info from but no, a SRI will not throw a CEL.

no practicular source, i just thought i saw someone post on a forum taht they put a cobb on and it ran rich and then a cel light came on but good to know it wont. Thanks

I think the "AFR and CEL" issue for Cobb may have been with someone having problems with both the Cobb SRI and TIP combo working to mess up their MAF calibration. SRI w/o the TIP worked fine, if I recall. MAF calibration is the primary parameter that the ECU uses for almost all of its engine control decisions. It needs to be right. Might be mistaken if it was the Cobb products. If so, I apologize. Just a memory. Might want to search to be sure.

Back on theme for the thread, by all means try some form of aftermarket intake. You engine will really liven up and you'll pick up about 20 whp by doing so. The stock BPV is very audible through just about any good aftermarket intake. It's at least as reliable as any of the aftermarket ones, works extremely well, and you can spend your money on something else -- something that will actually build power for you.

I really hear my bov (stock) more than I want now through the MSCAI, because the filter is right there just inside the left front fender liner, very close to the driver's door. So consider trying the intake mod first. If you do decide to change bpv's, for gosh sakes, run the thing full recirc, because that's what your engine needs and that's what the ECU is expecting when it matched fuel to the intake air charge. It has metered the fuel based on the air passing through the MAF. If you then fart part of that air back to the outside of the car rather than back into the intake via full recirc, you are screwing up the air to fuel ratio and making an engine that runs very pig rich into one that is even more pig rich. Not a good recipe for power or smooth operation, IMHO.

Lots of info msms3, thanks for all of it. I think i have a silly ebay knock off greddy bov laying around the house some where but i have read good and bad things about it. I think i will go for the intake and leave the bpv stock. I got to thinking about using the mscai so that i wouldnt have too much hassle from the dealership over it but i dont think i will go for it because if i have a problem with the car i will just take the intake off and then take it in. Thanks again for the responses.

don't put a bov on these cars or any car with a MAF. The sensor can't detect the loss of air from running voa. get a bpv turbosmart or forge or cobb xle
