After market radio and dimming lights?

For those of you who have added an after market radio. Did you lose the "soft on" and "soft off" of your cabin lights? That is to say, do your interior cabin lights come on gradually now or all at once?

I know you lose some of your LCD panel abilities (trip computer, clock, etc) but I heard that that soft on lighting thing will also get lost.
