Aeroforce Interceptor Scangauge - 3 quick pics

Initial impressions...

Got mine late this afternoon. Up and running with no problems. Sorry, but I don't have any pics yet; I should have some up tomorrow. All I have to do now is figure out how to mount my gaugepod (mearcat's single).

UI is very intuitive...I like how you can hold the left button down to scroll through the options really fast. And the PID's (see usermanual on Aeroforce's website) actually show more than what's labelled...I think.

I set up the gauge to display boost and a/f. I may change a/f to something more currently useful like oil temp. I think the lowest the a/f went @ WOT in 4th or 5th gear was 13.9. Scan rate I've set to fastest (1). Boost hit 15psi but quickly dropped to 13.2 and then I had to get off the gas. Unless I don't have it set up properly, I'm amazed at how often I'm NOT in the boost.

I haven't had a boost gauge to look at since I sold my '91 Eclipse GSX back in '00, and that was just the stock gauge. So far, I'm extremely happy with my gauge. I'd considered getting a Defi, but am glad I saw the Aeroforce Interceptor when I did; not to mention the timing of the mearcat gaugepod.

I have the silver bezel, black face and red display. In red on black, it's nicely muted at night. I'll need to play with the brightness settings, but I didn't have any trouble reading the display tonight. Stock lighting is really more of an orangy red, but I think the gauge lighting matches well enough. A blue display would look really cool IMO and I was torn between that and red, but I wanted to keep the interior look as stock as possible.

For $224 shipped, I feel like I got away with highway robbery. This thing is more gauge than I think I'll ever need. I highly recommend it.

Got 3 quick pics in. Bah, I can't change the title.

I'm very interested in the Aeroforce. Pics and video, please!

How long did it take for you to receive the Mearcat pod? Did you order direct from their website?

Ive got a dual meracat pod which arrived yesterday from AUS. Im going to paint it this weekend. Weve waited over a month

Pics with it in the car!!

(smash)

Oiy, too many forums to post it on, lol. Temp. mount, obviously. It took less than two weeks from ship date to get my pod from alan @ mearcat. The gauge took about 6 days to receive, but we had bad weather in those 6 days. Sorry, no video.

Im very glad your happy with your purchase! I knew it would be a hit with you guys.

Aeroforce gauges are the end all gauges IMO. With all the optional inputs, you pretty much have everything you could possibly want

It's awesome Tag. I know you want to possibly go with the MAP clamp, MBC, BCD, etc. but the fact that you have the 2 additional analog pickups is sweet. The MAZDASPEED Edition logo when it fires up is cool also. Built in shift light...like I said, I feel like I got away with highway robbery.

To hide the wire, I'm actually going to have to disconnect the wire from the gauge first. I think I'll wrap the wire in black electrical tape, run it through the hole for the steering column, then back out between the kick panel and dash, along the weatherstripping, then under the A-pillar. The length of the cable should be more than enough.

I'm not so much worried about the wire as I am mounting the pod. The idea of using any kind of double-sided tape scares me. You know how freakin hot it gets in the summer here and the last thing I want on my dash or A-pillar is melted runny glue. I have an extra sticky pad that I might cut up and gorilla glue to the bottom of the pod; I'm hoping that will keep it from sliding around.

I'm going to just go with the cobb ap, TMIC and call it a day. Would like to get the gauge though but the AP is supposed to log and have realtime capability so kinda torn at the moment.

Ya, I was torn also. But then Brent got his CPE DP, you got your springs and DP...I figured I couldn't be the only one on the local board w/o a new mod, lol!

I'm gonna get the AP also and maybe the Cobb DP when it comes out. Then I'll give it a rest and maybe get the rear sway. I'm resisting any kind of aftermarket spring as much as I can.

Cobb springs ARE WORTH IT. Trying to get Brent to help me with my DP but looks like I may have to go solo on that one. I got the pod already can you run the wires down the dash where it meets the a pillar? Is there enough room to tuck it under there?

Ya, if you push against the a-pillar, it gives. So I don't see a problem pushing it in so that the wire ends up underneath the black part of the dash. From there, it shouldn't be too hard getting it to stay tucked along the weatherstripping. I need to take a look underneath the dash to see how much room I have to play with behind the OBD-II tray/slot thing.

3M industrial strength double-sided tape ( I got mine at WallyWorld) will resist summer heat and is as close to permanent as it gets. You need a heat gun, dental floss to remove and than some gentle alcohol scrub to remove the residual adhesive or the adhesive remover Griot's garage sells (easier on the plastic color dye)

Not sure if you'll beleeb me on this, but have you thought of silicone? I have a friend that mounts his GPS windshield mount to the dash of his X5 4.4 and he's never have a problem with discoloration or residue. He says it sticks until you want to take it off, then you just pull and peel.

I did this to mount a Zune home adapter tot he console of my old Nissan Frontier. When I removed it, I just peeled up the silicone that didn't come off with the dock and it was perfect. The only thing I would warn about this is that a little silicone got into a crack in the base of the dock and I couldn't get it out without using a pick, so make sure you don't get the silicone between the dash and the a-pillar. Probably a dab on the dash and one on the a-pillar will hold that enough.
