Yeah really. Sometimes I wonder that we don't have any aftermarket support because of this. I mean if enough people sucked it up and spliced their own harness AEM would have to notice and then a plug-and-play harness might result. It doesn't work the other way around.

No...Just no.
We will never get any support..Period.
The car is dated....and there are not nearly enough people serious about modding for any large and legitimate company to take notice and spend any time or effort for anything new for this car.
Sorry..its just a sad fact.
We want it...we have to make it ourselves..Period.

I have no problem with making anything myself. I was just saying that in order to get anything made that's plug-and-play a lot of dedicated interest would have to be there. Also, just to point out - the fact that the car is dated isn't really a good point - there are older cars that have more of an aftermarket. The comment about the number of people modding them is indeed true however which goes back to my first point. If the Protege modding scene ever got seriously larger (ha) then more plug-and-play parts might result.

Trust me though, I'm just as aware of the lack of the aftermarket support as anyone else.

because my harness has been spliced in so many times that its messed up. any more splicing would ruin it

why would you do more work than you have to?
and its much easier to take out.
theconnection is alot more affective.
what is wrong with being plug and play?? i can name a million reasons why its better

and if they just make a harness for the miata or a focus, the harness would fit. all we would have to do is change a couple wires to different pins and thats it. our ecu harness is pretty common. there is hope

Sad but true. Also related to the reason I like my P5, not everyone has one

Probably a good reason to clean up those connections anyway,
