AEM Cold Air Intake for MP3 & Possible Bad Clutch

Ok I dont know whats going on but I looked up a picture of the AEM short ram/cool air intake for the MP3 and it looks nothing like the one I just had installed. The picture I saw didnt show the tubing going almost to the ground. My AEM comes out like stock then takes a big dive downward towards the opening at the bottom of the engine bay. Could someone tell me if its supposed to do this. Also, Today i noticed that in 1st gear around 1,500rpms the gas pedle feels like something is grinding/rubbing on it or the engine. And it has done that same feeling in 3rd gear. Maybe its just the intake making me notice more things. Because when I got the intake it made my gas pedle feel like its viberating all the time. Well let me know if this all is normal or I messed up something. Or have a new type of intake.

Yes, that one looks like just a ram air intake, your's is probably a cold air intake, those curve down and go down to the bottom corner of your car near the headlight to get the cold air as it passes underneath the car.

the link you posted is the 1.8 version, but is also sold as the 2.0 automatic version. the 2.0 manual tranny model comes out like stock and dives down next to the tranny. the automatic tranny takes up more space, and the manual version would not fit onto an automatic equiped car.

here is the manual version for the 2.0 liter engine:

It's the brake cylinder something I was told... I forget the exact techy name of it but here goes....

If you look at your intake right where your throttle body is ,that is where 90 degree elbow goes into your intake manifold... Look on the 90 elbow towards the fire wall to see if there is any part that shows signs of wear on it... In simple terms... look at your elbow to see if there are any wear marks on the side that faces the fire wall or the front driver 1/4 panel.

Hopefully this is the problem and you can simple push the intake slightly more into the TB and or losen your braket and pull it away from the part that it's rubbing on.

Sorry for the lack of knowledge of the terms and such but hopefully this can help you out a little more.

Just to clear up some terminology just a little....the AEM you have is NOT what is termed a CAI (cold air intake) since the air filter is still located inside the engine compartment...its more of a ram air intake.....of sorts. here is a picture of my Injen CAI and you can see that the tube goes over to the finderwell and the intake filter is actually outside the engine compartment.

Good Job

Wow Sir Nuke that looks great, how'd you do that. I have never seen anyone do that kind of thing before. Even though they say they have a cai, the pipe just goes down right behind the front light and is still in the compartment.

 (omg)

Make sure if you are rubbing against the brake master cylinder, to adjust SOON. A few people let this slide and it rubbed a hole in their intake. Just loosen all the clamps and adjust until you get a good fit that touches nothing. Then re-tighten. I would say my elbow pipe is about .75" from the master cylinder. I also had somebody rev the engine and made sure it didn't vibrate into it. I've been running fine for about 2 months now. Good luck!

I finally checked and I couldnt see but yea It was rubbin on the brake fluid resivoir steel pipe. It sucks its like scratched like !! that deep like the space between the two exclamation points. Yup going back tomorrow to get it fixed! I cant belive this I had the shop put it in and it was rubbing on 2 places I had to figure it out they said they knew nothing about grinding and stuff. So dumb... let you know how it goes I should try to get a new one..
