Should the ignition timing on a high-miles 2.0L engine be set different from the factory setting, or does the ECU do it anyway based on the emissions or other readings ?
My old '86 Corolla ran a lot better when I advanced the timing from the factory spec of 5* up to 13* when the car had 180,000 miles, and wonder if my P5 would do the same when it gets way-up in miles. Has anybody here changed (advanced ?) the timing on their high-miles 2.0L engine ? Did you notice any difference such as running cooler, burning less oil, more power, etc ?
