AC Is All Hot

Last week I noticed my AC had stopped working and as it was getting hot I was a little worried. Yesterday I purchased some refrigerant and low and below it was empty. I charged it and immediately had cold air. Today I got in the car for the first time at around 5PM and couldn't get any cold air, it was hot again. I hooked the pressure gage up and it shows that is fully charged(pissed) . Anyone have any advice? It is hot this week and can't afford to take it into the shop, so I hope someone has the answer. Thanks a lot.

I wouldn't keep putting refrigerant in though, there might be a leak and that s*** is terrible for the environment. Just hang in there, put ze windows down and drive faster :D

Is the compressor engaging on and off when you have the AC button pushed...

sorry, but just for future reference, it's "lo and behold."

"lo" translates to "look"

do you have an aftermarket stereo? Sometimes installing it can knock 1 of the cables loose from the temperature adjustment knob, getting it stuck on full heat...

might be too much refrigerant. Im generally a big advocate of do it yourself AC recharging, but it doesnt always work. When it doesnt, take it to a shop to get the recommended amount of refrigerant charge. I would have done the same thing as you, it has saved me a lot of money in the past, and hopefully in the future.

R-12 refrigerant is bad for the ozone. R-134, which has been in use since the mid '90s, is not harmful.
