About to buy...

If the car is right, try talk down a little on the price. Its good that you know the guy well, ensuring the car has been well taken care of. It may not be the best deal you can get, but is good to get the peace of mind.

Save some money on new emblems. :D

i think the price is fair. i'm sure it would be nicer to get it cheaper but you gotta think on the sellers side too, if you were selling your car you would want to get a fair price for it right? no one wants to get low-balled by anyone else. its different about low-balling a dealer because you know dealers are gonna make a profit anyways.

if you think the price he is offerening now is fair and everything is in good condition and he did all his service repairs and oil changes etc then you should go ahead and buy it.

o, have you test drove the car yet? you might want to do that and have an experienced mechanic friend to go along with you.

and that gold package thing is weird... i didn't know that mazda offered gold badges for the protege5.

no offense but who cares if your mirror tells you the temp. outside. Here in Florida its always blistering hot, i dont need any "gold package" to tell me its in the 90's outside.
(lol)
Seriously though, I agree with tttp5. It sounds like a fair deal, you might could get it for a little less. Don't forget though if you're a snowboarder then you are probably going to need a good set of snow tires (on another set of wheels) so that's another expense you'll need to consider in the immediate future. There are people who paid more for their p5 and there are people who paid less. I wouldn't jeopardize any friendships by lowballing personally. If you are happy with the deal then do it. You'll like the car. Make sure you test drive it first. Not just around the block. Do some city and highway driving. Try to duplicate the same driving conditions that you'll be in most of time. Good luck. You'll like this forum too. Lots of helpful folks here.

$11,000 at best, and that's really pushing it. Remember, there are tons of P5's around, no need to settle.

thanks for the help guys and i have decided to buy I went out to three dealers to try and find a better deal here in seattle and found one p5 that was close but it had 60000 miles and no sunroof and they wanted 12999 for it. So...I bought my uncles. Thanks for all the help guys (dance)

it had 60k miles on it how is that brand new?
No, I was saying that $12,999 might be acceptable for a brand new one, but not one w/60k.
