What Is Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling, disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severeparalysis or loss of vision.

Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40, but the unpredictable physical and emotional effects can be lifelong. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment give hope to those affected by the disease.

I personally know people with MS and it's a very scary disease, but one that there is hope of curing.

I have decided to enter an event here in Manitoba called Cruisin' Manitoba for MS. In a nutshell, I will be driving my MP3 around the province of Manitoba and earning pledges that will be directly donated to finding the cure for MS. It's a worthwhile cause that I felt would be perfect for me as it'd allow me to spend time out on the highways with a car I love raising money to find a cure for those I love as well as all people affected by this ailment.

I've decided to approach the members of this board for pledges as well. I will not be the least upset if not a single person chooses to donate, but I would rather receive no pledges after asking than to not ask for any pledges at all. If you decide to pledge, feel free to donate as much or as little as you wish...every bit helps no matter what. Once I've received the pledges, I plan to compile a list of the contributors and will make a thank-you post for your pledges in support. As well, I intend to take pictures at the event as well as posting the grand total of pledges I'm able to secure. Naturally, I'll be doing fundraising with co-workers, family and friends(other than those here) as well.

If you are interested in pledging support for the cure for MS and would like more information, feel free to ask questions right here in this post or if you'd prefer, private message me any questions.
I will likely be accepting donations just through my Paypal account of papineau@ca.ibm.com . However if you wish to donate and don't have access to Paypal, contact me and we can work something out.

As always, the support of this forum is appreciated in advance.

Regards

It's good to hear you are already doing your best to help out Sir Nuke.

ever since I started working in the real world....as on had a REAL job....I have been involved in some program through my employer to help those that need help. I count my blessings that I have always been fortunate enough to be able to do so.

I am a firm believer in "what goes around comes around" and I pray that I will never NEED to be on the recieving end of someone elses generosity.....but you just never know.

One last note about this that I neglected to mention, you are also issued(I would mail it out to you) an official receipt for tax purposes from the MS Society of Canada.
