A week on Fuzion ZRi's

2003 MSP - Spicy Orange #1291 - SOLD 9/2012
I don't post much, but I decided to give my thoughts on the Bridgestone Fuzion ZRi's replacing my stock RE40's, which made it 37,000 miles. The road noise from the RE's was so loud, I was going to need a hearing aide if I didn't replace them soon. Probably could have got another 5K miles on the RE's..if it weren't for the noise.

My MSP is a daily driver, about 70 miles a day, all highway to and from work, so I can't speak as to how the Fuzion ZRi's will perform on the track.

Anyway..Paid $75 per tire (215/45/17) at a local shop. Road noise in comparision to the Potenzas (when they were new) is considerably less. Cornering seems to be fine, although I think the Potenzas might have been a bit better in tight cornering. I'll need to get up on some twisties in the Texas hill country in a few weeks to see how they really perform.

Can't comment on winter performance..I'm in Houston. No snow. Although, this morning, we have quite abit! First White Christmas in Houston, ever.

So far, I can't complain. I think for the price, they are going to be a fine daily driver tire. I'll post a 10,000 mile update, which won't be far off considering how far I drive each week. Oh, also had the shop do the alignment, which it needed. Had the updated alignment specs printed out and in hand for them which was good, their equipment was brand new, but had the factory specs which seem to have the rear toe-in to be a bit too much, hence all this rear wear we see people talking about.

Thanks to all the great posters here who keep us lurkers informed!

um i have those fuzions and they suck on ice... i cant get out of my drive way which is down hill??? just spins but on the road i did ok getting home.

Yeah, the Fuzions are nice.. I got a set back around the beginning of Summer or shortly after they were first released. They are ok. I think the thread pattern is ugly as hell though. The grip, it's comparable or maybe better than the stock Bridgestones.. I ran the crap out of these tires though, and at a fat (44 psi ) they will do their thang in the corners..,I lowered the pressure for the winter though, the suspension felt too dang stiff with all this cold air. I'm in the market for some new meat now, and I think I found the tire that i want.. I'll probably go with the Pirelli PZeroNero M+S. I have heard very good things about this tire, and it can do both jobs of being Ultra High Performance and still be safe enough for light snow..

For max non-R-compound grip it is hard to outdo the Falken Azeni Sports, Kumho MX, and the Bridgestone Pole Position S03. Listed in order of grippage.

I replaced my OEM's with Goodyear F1's. Very satisfied with the tires. However, the OEM Bridgestones had more grip. They were just too noisy for my taste.

I also have the Fuzion Zri's 215/45/17. I can say just based on looks they fit the well a bit better, funny they are the same size as the potenzas (maybe mine were just so damn bald they dropped in profile lol) As for grip i have to say in my application they help me with first and second. THe bridgestones you to spin like a crappy eighty's record. Now with ZRI's they grip and i can accelerate thru first and second nicely. For the price I'd say they are damn good. Sure they're not a $150 dollar tire but for some quick replacements that are comparable to stock the price is right. I love em and will eventually upgrade to a new set of wheels and tires, but for the racing harts i'm gonna leave the fuzions. 2 thumbs up

Anyone else have the Goodyear F1's? I'm getting close to having to get a set, and hear that they provide a nice balance of wet and dry grip. These stock potenzas grip like a mother...as long as it's dry. But I can feel the car trying to hydroplane on the highway when it's wet. I'm not really looking at "launch-grip", as I don't race, but more of a highway thing.

so would any of you guys with the fusions say to some one looking for new tires to go a ahead and try them out that it would be worth it. I am currently running on a Set of yokohama AVS Es 100's that are just about down to there last mile and so far they have been real good to me but I am always willing to try new things especialy if they are cheaper.

I'd say that because the fuzions are so new and the price is still good go for it. They grip really nice but keep in mind it's cold outside so the rubber is harder and no tire will grip as well in the cold weather as it does in the warm weather. I can only tell you that with the mods I have and the slippage i got before the fuzions are thumbs up. First and second gear used to not really exist for me, now I only start spinning in the top range of first and grip all the way through second. Give em a try man, they're definitely worth what you pay for em.

I just orderd a set of REV Wheels model 1's and A set of the Fuzion ZRi's and the total cost mounted and balanced tax and everythign $788.08 out the door at discount tire on cooper street in Arlington tx. this guy named jamie got me all taken care off.
