A Firmed Recall on Mazda 6

I saw from news that Mazda has to recall part of the Mazda 6 produced in China and Japan. Will Mzd3 be the next?

Recall for what reason on the 3? Don't look for one for brake dust or something else non-safety. So if the 6 has a confirmed recall, what is it for?

Don't you think the materials of the brake pads should be changed as it creates excess dust and grooves on the discs?

How do you know it is 100% safety now? At the current moment, no one knows whether it would affect our safety or not in a long run, but what I know is, it is vey abnomral, and we should address this problem before we see an accident happened.

Do you think the new pads created grooves on the brake discs is normal and it won't affect our safety? If this is the case, you can even say without the rear brakes, the car can still stop and you can still say the car is safe........because it can stop!

Mazda Motor Corp., Japan's fourth- biggest automaker by sales, says it will recall 130,500 sedans in overseas markets, including China, to fix defective fuel tanks.

The recall will affect the Mazda 6 sedan, known as the Atenza in Japan.

Based in southwestern Japan's Hiroshima prefecture, the company will send parts to its Chinese partner, the China FAW Group, to fix 38,000 vehicles in the country.

The automaker will also repair 92,500 Mazda 6s in the UK, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

The move comes one day after Mazda announced a recall of more than 47,000 Atenzas at home for defective parts in fuel tanks and indicators.

Recalls are only done on safety issues. Brake dust is not a safety issue. If the brake dust is found to be an indicator of a bigger problem that IS a safety issue, then there will be a recall. Otherwise, they might issue a TSB (but don't bet on it).

The Mazda6 recall you're quoting is only in overseas markets. American markets must have a different fuel tank supplier.

If anything...

If the 3 is to get recalled for anything it will be the airbag sensor (the light in the gauge cluster) GW, can correct me if I am wrong, but if the sensor goes the airbag system dis-arms the air bags and THAT would be a safety issue. But as of right now there is no recall in the works for anything on the 3.

Yes, when a faulty sensor is found, the system is completely disabled. Even that may be ambiguous to a recall, though. Since the air bag is a "supplemental restraint system", they may be able to get away with not doing anything besides fixing vehicles that are found to be faulty.
Maybe not, though. I'm not sure of all the factors and laws go into making a recall decision but I think air bags may be in a gray area, since a faulty air bag would not cause an accident. (dunno)

This recall for Mazda doesn't sound too good.

Are Mazda vehicles in general reliable vehicles or not? Are they as reliable a Toyota vehicle?

Okay, let me think.... Mazda 6 = Mazda 3? .... No. So, until I see something out there that is a confirmed MAZDA 3 recall, it's all gas.
